Sorry if this is a dumb question. Over 41,000 transactions and this is a first for me.
Message from buyer. The address given in the message is a PO Box:
Tracking info:
Address provided during checkout:

Looks like they had some issue with the address and returned it. If it's USPS screw up and the address is correct you have to take it up with the post office.

I (the seller) am in AZ and that is where the order was sent from. The tracking looks like it was delivered to the "original sender" in AK. I do not understand how that was recorded, who does USPS consider the "original sender"? Would not that be me, the seller in AZ.

That is a confused mess. You will have to call the 800 number on the USPS web site. You may have to wait until Monday. They can pull up a lot more tracking info than what is on line.

Thank you.
Yes, it does appear to be a confused mess. I will see if the tracking updates again over the weekend, then try to contact USPS on Monday.

Once the tracking gets messed up, the postal service can't correct it on line. I once had a package marked delivered when it was picked up. The buyer went ape because it could not be tracked.

When did the buyer message you? Was it on the 19th or the 20th?
To me it looks like it was improperly addressed then redirected to the buyer location in Ward Cove. The final scan is confusing but could be just somebody hitting the wrong button on their scanner.
If in fact it is being returned to you just tell the buyer you will contact them as soon as you receive it back. (reship or refund at that time).

Input your tracking number on the USPS website to make sure that info is correct for YOUR tracking number. I saw right away that it looks screwed up because you are in Sierra Vista so it can't possibly be "delivered to the original sender" as this states. Something is screwy with this. No telling by this if it truly is coming back to you.
The whole, I guess "they" addressed it with my house address is the buyer deflecting blame since the buyer is the "they" who provided the address for shipment.

The buyer sent me the message this evening. I did reply to the buyer and assured them that when the package comes back to me I will contact them.
I set up tracking alerts to come to me via text message, so maybe something less confusing will be updated over the next few days.

The info on the USPS website looks the same as what I see on eBay. I guess it will just be a waiting game to see if the package comes back to me.

Yeah unfortunately I think you are correct. Just going to have to wait to see if it really does come back to you.

That is weird though to since there is only a 7 mile difference from Ward Cove to Ketchikan.

The whole situation seems weird to me lol.
Online it looks like the PO in Ward Cove is open for a few hours tomorrow so I sent another message to the buyer and asked if they could check with the Ward Cove PO tomorrow. Maybe we will get lucky and the package is still there.
I just want to make sure I handle this situation correctly.

Update
The buyer messaged me and they have recieved their order. Yay!
