Do you ever get tired of the price begging?

MSRP: $42.00

My price: $35.00 with free shipping

Make Offer: disabled

Other eBay sellers' pricing: $32.00 - $52.00, shipping varies

Competitive venue pricing: $32.00 - $58.00, shipping varies

Sold prices on eBay: $32.00 - $46.00

Shopper sends message: Will you take $18.00

If you want to pay $18.00, go find a used one and good luck with that because used ones are priced $22 and up right now with variable shipping.

I get several messages just like this every day. A lot of sellers do. I know it's part of the eBay culture, but it really gets old. I'm pretty sure those of you reading, whether you feel the same as I do or not, will understand where I'm coming from. Just getting the complaint out of my system so I can get on with some merry festivities tonight.

It's annoying to receive ridiculous lowball offers.  Sometimes  I wonder of other sellers actually consider them when you know that you will lose money.  If I choose to respond I simply say "Thank you for your interest, but I'm not considering any offers for this item."    I always remain polite as there could be an off chance that they will pay my price. Earlier this year a buyer sent me several messages asking for a lower price.  I politely declined all her offers and she did end up paying my price.

FP with IPR doesn't stop hagglers - I know, because I still get them.  But sometimes they ask if I'll take what I think is a pretty fair offer on something I really want to get rid of, so I send them the offer mail.

Other times I just say that I'm letting the item ride a while longer as is, but I do have sales on a regular basis.

Seems to work fine.  The few really bothersome people (and they are few), I do block because I've had two individuals chase me around.  I had one (nice) person follow me onto another site and offer again.  She got an A for effort and I struck a nice deal with her.

IMO it is not part of eBay's culture, at least not anymore, these self entitled fools must think no one else is suffering in this financial climate.

Haha, I agree with the second part. The first part would be nice if it were true. I sell new product, fixed prices, no offers. It would be great if people didn't try to haggle.

Some may see it as part of the "old eBay" culture, but in truth, eBay continues to promote the haggling environment by encouraging sellers to send unsolicited offers to buyers, by encouraging buyers to ask sellers to accept an offer even when the seller doesn't include make offer on the listing, by forcing make offer onto sellers listings, etc.

I have seen many sellers in these boards that say the buyer left them poor feedback after they refused to accept a low-ball offer and the buyer bought the item full price.

Yes.  It does happen.  That is why we BBL a low-ball.  Potential for it to end badly and often does.

In my opinion, when one formats and OBO listing, they are setting themself up for a world of hurt.  I seem to receive offers that give a whole new meaning to the term "low ball". I suspect many of these low-ball offers are coming from people who want to broker the item, for profit.  That, I can respect. But the cheap, moochie buyer who just doesn't want to spend the money is just not cricket. They need to learn to go look at the listings that are of a condition that warrants their price, rather than trying to make me come down to their level.  I don't sell on any other sites, so I don't know, but I am told that eBay is home of the to a fault *uber frugal* shopper giphy (23).gif

Set Best Offer up to automatically refuse any offer more than two cents less than your asking price.

Set Best Offer to automatically accept any offer a penny less than your asking price.

Offers will be automatically refused and you will never see them.

I have gotten a few really low offer here on some things and have sent counter offers and got closer to my price.

I don't mind taking less for something as long as I make money. I will not give something away.

The low balling is the main reason I can't stand selling anything on craigslist. People expect you to pay them to take your stuff sometimes.

If you want to have a LOT of fun on CL....try giving something away. That really brings out the wackos.

There are quite a few collectables sellers who accept best offers, and seem to double price their items.

We have one that comes to the boards frequently complaining of low sales. It is a tuff situation because when you double the average selling price you will always get low ball offers.

Yeah, one time I had listed some scrap metal for free, not enough to justify me driving to the scrap yard.

One interested person wanted me to deliver it to his house! Nope come and get it!
