Do I have to accept paypal? Can I ask for other forms of payment from items I'm selling? Here is my BIG problem. I'm not in the selling business. On rare occasions I sell items on Ebay after other sale sites don't work. I sell on Ebay ONLY when I can't sell elsewhere. The items I do sell are all my personal items. I've never seen this before but, the last item I sold paypal put a 21 day hold on the funds. After some research I discovered the hold will be lifted 3 days AFTER confirmed delivery. This is NOT acceptable to me. I tried contacting Ebay to ask this but, their stupid system will only let me ask questions that fall in their narrow category of questions. So my question is when selling can I ask for other forms of payment other than paypal and can I refuse to accept paypal?

Apparently, from what has been noted on the special 'blog', if you don't accept paypal, you won't be able to list anything that requires Immediate Payment, which is supposed to start shortly. So, unless they change policy, well, ..........
From a post on the blog thread:
"Requirements to list with the immediate payment option
To use the immediate payment option in your listing, you must meet the following requirements:
Have an eBay seller account in good standing.
Have a PayPal Premier or PayPal Business account when you list your item. Find out more about upgrading your PayPal account.
Specify a Buy It Now price of no more than $60,000.
Specify shipping costs or offer free shipping when you list your item.
Include all other related costs, such as taxes, so your buyer knows exactly how much to pay."
I guess that would allow very expensive or auction.

It might not be cheaper but I bet it would be faster. The item I sold was delivered yesterday yet paypal still has my money on hold. There was nothing said that they would hold my money. They just did it. I'm still waiting for my money even after the sold item has been delivered and positive feedback was left my the buyer.

Why not? Because I have been a member of Ebay for over 17 years and I have a 71 star rating. Mostly as a buyer but I have sold on Ebay many times before and have never had negative feedback as a seller. The only negative feedback I have ever received was as a buyer and only then because I left them negative feedback.
A 71 star rating means nothing if 99% of it is as a buyer, and right now you only have two feedback as a seller. eBay and PayPal want to see that you can handle selling and that you're a trustworthy seller rather than a scammer-- everyone who sells on eBay has been subject to the exact same holds at some point in time. I sold a lot in 2003, but when I came back after a lengthy break to start selling again in 2015, I was subject to the holds because it had been more than ten years since I had last sold anything here. Once you hit a certain dollar amount and number of transactions, the holds will be lifted and you won't have to deal with them anymore.

The big issue is they have the item and I don't have my money. All the buyers use paypal because there is no other option. It's funny that I can sell on facebook and take payment with paypal and there is no hold on my money. I sell something on Ebay and there is a hold on my money. I could have sold my item on other venues faster if I had lowered the price. A fast nickel is better than a slow dime.
Every company is different on how they operate ... here, once you get rolling there is no hold. If memory serves me in less than 30 days my $$ was not being held but I got off to a fast start ... so if you only plan to use eBay on rare occasions you'll have to either accept some $$ delays or sell enough that the delays go away ... best wishes to you on whatever venue you focus on.

Your buyers must have been very stingy with feedback. "Many sales", but only 2 feedback comments?
Infrequent sellers are subject to holds. I list something with my buying account a few times a year, and every time, I'm told my money may be held. They don't keep it a secret, but some people just don't read things.

It's all perspective. 71 feedback in 17 years isn't much. Only 2 sales in that time isn't much at all. Threatening to not use a site you have barely used will not get you anywhere.
When I came back to selling last year, after at least a 5 year break, there were no holds place on me. My FB was a lot higher than yours and probably 99% of those were sales. I don't know eBay's formula, but if you continue to be a casual user you will be subject to the holds just like all the other newbies.

Actually i think its in your Paypal user agreement - as a new or low-activity seller the funds may be held a while. 21 days is the longest - not the standard.

Positive feedback is no longer one of the conditions that gets your hold lifted. It used to be but it isnt anymor. If tracking shows a Delivered then the hold shouldbe lifted within 3 days. If yours has been delivered and the hold is still on today then i would give Paypal a call and see if theyll lift it sooner.
