Times are hard and every little sale helps. So yesterday when I got a message about a 40 piece lot of Oneida flatware for $90 I was hopeful. Buyer said she could pay up to $80. So I sent an offer for $80, plus shipping as that was in the original add. Buyer accepted the offer but didn’t pay. Luckily just as I was heading to the post office I realized the sale wasn’t complete, so didn’t mail the items. So this morning buyer messages me in a tizzy. Order was to be for her niece. When the total with shipping and taxes came to $96, the niece didn’t want them. So I cancelled the order, with Buyer Requested to Cancel as the reason. Even though my lesser angels wanted me to just ignore it, and let the buyer take the hit for non payment. Right after I cancelled that sale, I sold a KitchenAid mixing bowl, which almost made up for that cancelled sale. Instant Karma!

Gold stars are not awarded for using simple common sense 😂

Yes, tough times for buyers and sellers. Last night a buyer sent me an offer on an item that does not have best offer for 10% below listed price, which was fair, but I replied no, but thanks for the offer. An hour later, he purchased the item for the listed price. I did not get a gold star for that. If a buyer sends a unsolicited offer and does not say one of the following, hello, please or thank you I am less inclined to consider/accept their offer.

Hope it works out for you, often the buyer who wants to haggle before a purchase will want to haggle *after* the purchase. I always just put those people on the BB list without replying.

I'm sure that happens but I've never had a problem with buyers who paid full price for an item after I refused their lower offer. If it is something that happens every once in a while, I don't want to turn away all the sales and block the buyers 'just in case' one of them might cause a problem later on.
I do block the odd buyer for other reasons...not for making an unsolicited offer.

A gold star is always better for being nice and doing the right thing instead of a black star and being mean and nasty. So, yes, this time you get a gold star.
