I am new to selling on EBay. I am trying to sell most of my Barbie Doll & Ornament Collection and Glassware. I smoke. The dolls and ornaments were displayed in both smoking and non-smoking environments, then stored in non-smoking environments for 5 years and then brought to my home in totes with lids and only removed to photograph and then again to mail. Since I smoke, I have no idea the exact odor they have. I received a positive review from one buyer but they noted the smell. Another buyer never mentioned it. But after the one did, I immediately went to the only other listing I have right now and disclosed it. I have 3 other items that have sold without this disclosure, but I also never said it was from a smoke free home. Am I correct for disclosing this now? What do I do if one of the other 3 buyers complain? And does it have to be disclosed for glassware since that can be washed? I really just want to be honest and get good ratings. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I used to smoke a pack a day for 40 some years. I quit in 2005. I can smell a smoker across the grocery store.
sometimes a smoker is so bad it makes me gag. Nothing worse than an ex smoker.
As far as pets, my name pretty much handles that disclosure. Expect a pup hair or 2. My dog is mostly white so I can’t wear or sell black.

Smells are not part of the MBG but ebay won't back any sellers up and enforce that.

At our local flea market a woman wanted to buy a Dooney & Bourke bag - she said it smelled like cigarettes so could she have a discount?
Those always fascinate me.

We are not tobacco users but we live in NW Colorado and heat with wood. I have lost my sense of smell from chemotherapy and I am always concerned about the smell of smoke in our items. I wash all my fabric items prior to listing and then store in a closet or tubs with Gain dryer sheets. I also put dryer sheets in the area where I store my cardboard boxes.

Yes @nsjvintage4 disclose. But, please do not try to mask the smell with perfumes, Fe-Breeze, dryer sheets, etc as many complaints have been posted on these boards over the years about allergies to fragrances too. Items have been returned because of nice smells too.
