Difference between monthly seller limits and free listing limits

Hi, I'm confused so hopefully someone can help - I've looked but couldn't find an answer.

I currently have a monthly seller limit of 200 with a 1000 limit for free listings. If my items don't sell they will then count towards my 200 limit for next month as I understand it. I'm considering moving to a basic shop but this only gives me 250 a month I believe. The basic shop isn't financially viable at present as I'm likely to have lots of items which will 'hang around' and the featured shop definitely isn't. I'm only in the very early stages of trying to grow but was hoping to be able to list circa 150-200 items per month for the next few months to grow to about a 1000 items total. On my current terms if I stick with no shop it will be 200 free + 800 at 30p per listing = £24 per month or, basic shop which is £25 per month, 250 free then 750 at 10p per listing = £7.50 thus £32.50 per month.

That aside, my question is will I likely be allowed more than 200 selling items per month as I'm unsure of the point of the 1000 free listings if I can only list 200 anyway. For info my limit was last increased April 4th but I don't know what it was before that.

Oh, another question, when items get re-listed do they show as new listing i.e. near the top?

on .com changing (upping) a store subscription level does not change the "monthly limits".

If you have 200 items listed and sell 50, when the 150 renew, the 150 will count against your monthly limit and you'll be able to list 50 new items.

As if by magic I came home from work today with an email saying I'd been upgraded from 200 to 380 listings a month - happy days!

I am so happy for you. But I was looking forward to someone answering your question as I have the same if I am understanding yours correctly. I have a Store subscription for one thousand items. The little ring tells me I am two items away from that amount. But below that under selling limits it says I can list 1200 more. It's very confusing. Maybe that's the number that I can list but would be charged for??? 🤔 Thanks.

Yes, that's exactly what it is. If you're willing to pay for the insertion fees, you can list up to your total listing limit.  

And if you upgraded your level of Store subscription, you would not be able to take full advantage of it, since you'd be limited to 1200 extra listings.
