Did some sales research.

I just looked at some sales numbers for my ebay store. For the record, I'm up a good bit y/y for the period June 1 - 10.

What conclusion can I draw from this?

Frankly, not much of anything.

I am currently averaging about 800 single quantity listings of generally used or vintage items in my store. Last year at this time I was probably 750 or so. Doesn't really matter.

The simple fact is, with a non-niche, rather random inventory I do not have enough items to draw a lot of conclusions from a week or two of sales. Except for the fact that some of my seasonal stuff (Holiday decor, for example) generally sells better during the Holiday season, most of my sales are pretty random. And they are few enough that even one or two higher dollar sales (higher dollar for me) can make a week look great compared to a previous week or y/y...even if I actually had fewer sales.

Much of the data ebay provides in Seller Hub, as I've been saying for years, is of more value to sellers of new merch with multi quantity listings.

I'm taking steps to try to increase my sales. Based on recent history, I suppose I should be hoping for another lockdown, but I'd rather that didn't happen. I'd like to see a huge growth in demand for my kind of stuff, but I have no control over that. I'd like to see ebay make some changes, including robust marketing campaigns for non-Focus Categories, but I have no control over any of that either.

So, I'm going to add more listings, improve my existing listings, do more marketing (on and off ebay, such as with social media), and.......I fully expect many of my sales will still be pretty random, because that's the nature of my inventory.

I have about 180 listings and am chugging along, usually 1-3 sales a day, sometimes more, sometimes none, though I recently put my store on time away and didn't list for days so my sales stuttered to a stop - I have to keep listing or I sink out of sight.  I've started listing again so sales should pick up again at some point.

Don't do anything else - I'm a lazy seller!  (I do sell on a couple of other sites).

Based on some 40 years of selling, and eBay since 1998, I expect my strongest sales from January to March, and a drop off in April and May, slow until September, good in September, October and early November then absolutely dead until Boxing Day.

While 2022 was down from the pandemic surge of 2020-2021, I was surprised than April and May this year were as strong as January to March.

Things are back to normal/spotty and I have time to do some weeding before the broom totally takes over the garden.

1100 listings on this ID another 1000+ over two other active selling IDs.
