Does the description "New With Tags", require that the cord by which the tags are suspended is fastened with the original knot tied at the factory?
Some background: A buyer purchased an NWT garment on which the original knot in the cord holding the tags had loosened and come untied during shipment from the retailer to me, so I retied it using a much more reliable knot. Now the buyer is demanding a prepaid return label on the grounds that the item is not as described. Does she have a legitimate case or, as I strongly suspect, has she changed her mind and is now attempting a fraudulent return?

Sounds like a flake, but imo just tell her to return for refund.
These types of buyers will do everything they can to claim SNAD, so she will find another reason or damage the item to prove her point.

NWT New with tags attached. New as in; exactly like it came from the store.
NWOT New with out tags attached. Unworn, unwashed.
Agree with Em- tell 'em to return for refund or they will anyway...
Not to the OP but a statement in general;
I just cringe when I see listings that say: NWOT, "I only wore this a few times".. DOPE! That's not NWOT.

It does not matter what we think, or what you think. The only thing that matters is what the buyer thinks, because every case is legitimate in eBay's eyes and buyers generally win these cases.
If you want someone to tell you that you are "right", I'm sure someone will be along soon to do that. But that will not change the fact that eBay will almost certainly rule in the buyer's favor.

You're absolutely right. If you worked at a Charlotte Russe and did the same thing, it would be 100% legit. But unfortunately, it doesn't matter if you're right. Only what the buyer can get away with matters.
If you can weather the cost of shipping, take it back for a ful refund. Try not to coddle buyers who just want to get a few bucks off any way they can. It's a very nasty habit we need to train people out of.

Some people claim a stuck-on Goodwill tag qualifies.
But it doesn't matter. Buyer who makes this kind of complaint will win if you go to war. Just accept the return.

Thanks, everyone. Since eBay never supports sellers, I have concluded that the only option is to pay for the return. As soon as my seller account is completely clear, I will cancel the account.
It takes only one buyer of the kind that I am enduring to consume so much time that I would be at least as well off financially to donate to the Salvation Army and take the tax deduction, spending the freed-up time on my other income-earning activities.
