1. Customer returned a $300 Limited Edtion shoes, soles were dirty and full of cat hair and cannot be sold as new. Plus it cost $21 to ship the shoes. Out $321.00
2. A customer returned shoes because they did not fit. Customer taped the shoe box and put a return label on the shoe box. We did not ship the shoes in this way and cannot be sold as new with box because of the damage to the taped box. Out $103.95
3. Customer ordered an item used it and Ebay approved the return. We won't sell a used item that was in someones mouth. Out $13.25
In ALL cased Ebay forced us to refund 100%

I know, it happened to me several times but there's nothing you can do, just lick your wounds and move on.

I'm so sorry- Um, THAT SUCKS. Just want to validate your frustration! I wish there was more objectivity against scammers and people that manipulate the system.

Ebay is the one manipulating the system.
edit: Come to think of it, they're scammers too, now with the extra 4% money grab.

eBay was not the one who approved the return? You have a 30 day return policy, which means buyers can return for any reason.
The problem is not that a buyer wants to return because you approved that before your listing went live. The question is who pays return shipping?
For a buyer to see if a shoe fits they have to wear the shoe which will show wear. This is just part of the risk / reward of sellng a product that every human needs as a basic need. Some times it happens that buyers does not like the fit, but most times I think you make out much better. which is the reward part I am speaking about.
Good Luck Selling!

In the olden days when you brought shoes home, you always walked on carpet - never on the floor and of course not outside. You walked back and forth on the caarpet to see if they fit.
If the soles showed wear, you could not return them.

That happens to be the policy when you buy shoes on the internet from a particular manufacturer that I know.

In the olden days....lol
Last time I bought new boots, I didn't need 30 days to know if they fit properly.
I needed maybe 10 minutes, which is 29 days, 23 hours and 50 minutes longer than anyone needs.
The OP clearly received back shoes that were worn for quite a while....and that's not fair to the seller. Ebay could easily implement a policy that any new shoes returned must not show wear...customers can simply walk on a carpet until they know the shoes feel good...takes about 10 minutes!

eBay already has a policy that says the item must be returned in its original condition. How about they enforce that policy instead of implementing yet another policy they enforce?

My favorite shoe designer denies returns if the soles have any marks. Every time I get a new pair, I have to try them on in my daughters carpeted room to ensure nothing happens to the soles in case I need to return them.

OP, that's terrible. Sorry that's happened. There's no excuse for it and no, it's not your fault.

Good point, I forgot all about it and for good reason.
It's COMPLETELY unenforced and customers know it. Ebay may as well just remove it from their rules page.

Mczombies:
You mean the olden days when people still had some common decency, and some respect for others? The days before the line between right and wrong, was blurred and distorted to the point that the dichotomy isn't even considered relevant anymore--not even pondered as a momentary lark. Instead of considering what is moral and right, the new thinking seems only to consider if they can get away with it. If they can, then it is "good."
It's like the 60's all over again--if it feels good for you, then do it--only without the social activism, the love thy neighbor, care for the environment and all its creatures, and of course, without the self sacrifice for the common and also greater good. Also, without the good music....
I honestly don't understand how some of these people live with themselves.
