Customer is threatening

Dear eBay,

I have recently signed up for eBay and have been shipping 90% of the orders the same day to provide a good service.

I have many delayed packages and called my postal service about this and they told me that the delays are out of their reach because of covid restrictions, customs and more orders in general.

I shipped the customers order and now it's stuck at the customs in his country, the customer has been going berserk in messages and i am not sure what the proper solution to this issue is.

Some of the messages received:.

After such a long time of waiting! It is clearly a fraudulent deception, of delaying! This is a classic fraud, of holding out. This scammer doesn't get anything from me! Refund eBay !!! The gypsy

2:Yes, i belive you Sir! Seven eBay rating and over 100 Customers.... Oh really? If got **bleep**ed up with your Post TID! I FINISH YOU

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

@sarm-market This is not eBay, this is a forum for other sellers and buyers only. No one from eBay will read your post. Unfortunately eBay also won't intervene in messages going back and forth between sellers and buyers. If your buyer uses profanity you can report the buyer to eBay and they will make note of this on buyer's account. You can simply delete any messages you don't want to read and make sure you add this buyer to your blocked bidder list, to keep them from bidding on your items in the future. Best of luck to you....

Being angry is not a threat.

We are not ebay we are volunteer sellers trying to help sellers with issues. I have to ask you what international postage policy have you selected as far as delivery speed? Hopefully you selected the slowest shipping option in the policy? As a seller to international locations every time I get a sale I mail the buyer and tell them there are delays please wait 3-6 weeks for your order. Yes Covid slows down mail due to flight restrictions most people buying are aware of this but it can't hurt to message them as they buy and ask them to wait extra time for delivery. Also make sure you have the slowest possible shipping speed possible as mentioned.

Having a angry customer because of shipping delays is common.

OP is in the Netherlands. Don't they have their own boards there?

You need to study up on International shipping restrictions.  I can't think any customs would let this in.  It's not properly labeled for International import.  You should refund, he'll never get his package.

Yes they do, maybe they shipped to the US and are checking on internal delays - as toysaver said, the item will most likely not clear any customs though

Please don't take buyers comments personally as most people do not realise or are not concerned with delays caused for any reason. Buyers focus is simply on getting their item.

I would start by sending my buyers a copy of label that was used to dispatch their item and ask them to check address details and to advise if there are any problems with details shown.

I would then contact my postal service provider and ask for an update and date by which you are able to claim for lost package and they should send these details by email which I will copy/ paste or take a screen shot and send to my buyer.

These steps should give your buyer some degree of comfort that item is indeed on it's way and buy you a few days grace. If item has been in customs for more than 10 days then there may be additional problems including paying of taxes by your buyer which he has ignored or he will pay after he has made a claim and has been refunded.

To avoid this scenario on future orders best advice I can give you is to ship using eBay's Global shipping programme as these customs charges are paid by buyer when he places an order.
