Why does ebay hire Customer Service reps with thick accents?
It seems like there should be a punchline, but it's not funny when I am trying to resolve a problem and can't understand what they are saying.

Most reps live and work from other countries, like the Philippines and India.

Call early in the morning, and you'll have a greater chance of getting a US rep.

You can ask to speak with someone else. Nothing wrong with being honest and telling them why.

Luckily I've never had to call CS, but if I ever do I'm going to turn the Southern on real thick just to see what happens lol

I have more trouble understanding some of the US reps but they do usually have a better grasp of things.
Sometimes I put the phone on speaker... And I do a little soft shoe.
Now the "little dog" (tm) goes crazy, and starts talking on the phone
It is a hoot... and polesters... (sp) They get the whole crazy monkey thing.
Snort and the wife (spell checker.... said it is Pole Dancers)

I have NO IDEA. Companies such as eBay seem to think it is cheaper, but after I've had to have the rep repeat everything 3 times and then call back 9 more times because I thought we were both on the same wave-link but obviously weren't, I can't see how it would be cheaper.
I get that people can't help their accents, but companies don't seem to realize how very frustrating it is for their customers to communicate with them. My question to fast food operations would be.... Why do you always pick the person with the thickest accent to work the drive-thru window?

Agreed. We do things like that too - especially with "unavailable" callers. Mom started it - her name was Polly and when Dad bought a pool table for the den - She'd answer, "Polly's Pool & Pizza - what time do you want a reservation?" but my youngest daughter beat that one (she's 40) responds, "County Morgue, you stab em, we slab em - what's the name on your toe tag?" They don't call back like they did when Mom answered..... imagine that? 🙂

I have asked for another rep but they wouldn't transfer me.
