Custom Item Specifc data is not being retained

For many of our listings we add "Custom Item Specific" data to our listings.  This data is being lost or not retained if we should edit or create a new listing.  To save time we have prefilled the "Custom Item Specific" field with something like "XXXX" in a template when we are creating drafts of items.  When we are ready to go live with a listing created by a template we then complete all of the standard ebay item fields that we use along with our "custom item specific" fields.  We go live and the "Custom Item Specific" field and its data disappear.

Only if we create the "Custom Item Specific" at the time we go live does the listing retain this field and data.  However, if we come along and edit the record again it loses the "Custom Item Specific" field and its data.

This was happening to me also today.  I could not get my custom items specifics to "stick" in the items I listed in the Collectibles category, but the custom item specifics were just fine in the items I listed in the Home & Garden category. 

eBay announced in the Spring Seller Update that item specifics would begin changing on June 10th.  Maybe they are getting a head start?   I wish they would let us know...makes it impossible to tell if something is a glitch or intentional

I've had the exact same thing happen to me this entire week. Doing anything to a listing with custom Item Specifics (editing it, saving draft, relisting, sell similar etc) completely gets rid of everything except the suggested default item specifics + 1 line of custom item specifics. It happens to listings even in categories that aren't scheduled to be reorganized on June 10.

I've wasted several hours this week just inputting the same data in again & again, so I'm about to just give up on using item specifics entirely.

I've been experiencing this exact problem for about 1 week.  I'm waiting until after the 10th to list the about 350 items I need to list.

IIRC, not too long ago adding custom item specifics was officially suggested by eBay as a way to make listings more search friendly.  Folks were instructed to fill up listings with as many custom item specifics as possible.  Now they're all being deleted.

I have never been able to get the custom item specifics to stay saved in a template.  Now I have to create the custom item specific for every listing even when using "create similar" when starting my next listing. Drives me crazy.
