Current Cost and Effort of Selling Items on eBay

I just received payment from eBay for my last sale and realized that eBay is even taking out 13.5% from the shipping. So much is lost from each sale that I must say, after many years of both buying and selling on eBay, that it is no longer worth my time and trouble listing anything except perhaps a few high-priced items.

In other words, all those fun, interesting or collectible items that used to go to happy new homes for modest sums, are no longer worth the time and money to list.  And such items are one of the main attractions, the fun, of eBay.  As it was, shipping costs were already making many items of lower value not worthwhile to buy.   eBay, you may have killed your own golden goose.

Correction, 1995. Before you go correcting people, you should be sure to be correct in your reply.   And that is what I said isn’t it? We don’t have to sell on eBay if we choose not to.

My biggest problem with eBay is the feedback system.  Again, I have the choice not to use them.  Which I am working on. Hopefully won’t be selling on eBay after this year. Good luck to everyone.

You are absolutely right. A lot of people are making the choice to leave. As soon as I find a good place to sell my eggs, I will too. Good thing for me is I only sell hatching eggs. I stopped selling everything else on ebay years ago. Thanks for your insight.
