Had a guy hound me to sell him an item I had up for auction which already had bids. He offered me triple what the current bid was. Told him I couldn't cuz it already had bids and was against Ebay TOS. Guy kept messaging me how I could do it without Ebay finding out. Tried ignoring hoping he would get a clue and leave me alone. Kept on messaging. Blocked him from bidding so he got all bent and asked why I did that. I didn't owe him an answer so I ignored him. Now he's messaging asking what did he do to me to make me block him. Well, duh, he was asking me to go against TOS. How can I get this guy to leave me alone? He is creeping me out.

The message block won’t work if a seller has had a transaction with the blocked member. There is no info elaborating on whether simple communications prior to the block being set will render the message block useless. So i don’t know, but still feel it is worth a try to set that Buyer Requirement up.

I think OP left out the word Vindabona and will needs to be real careful. Excited blocked bidders will sometimes register as a new buyer and your as is how is now returns policy is like waving a red flag in front of a bull...

I'm going to ESPN $1535.00 ending price that leaves $600.00 on the table for restoration work...

Someone offering triple the current bid would be a triple red flag to me. I would think that they are really dumb or that they were scamming. If they wanted it, they would place a bid, even set at triple the current bid.
In your case they turned out to be scamming, wanting an off ebay transaction and probably it would get worse from there. Who knows what their real intentions are? They are trying to bait you and you are smart to not engage them.
In my opinion, these people are predators, bullies. They don't want to take no for an answer. They attach themselves to you and won't let go. They want a dialog, like you said. But that is their way for them to argue and intimidate.
So you have to take away their power.
NEVER respond to them again, ever. You are correct; you don't owe them anything. If you want to read their messages out of curiosity, for psychological insights into the mind of a bully, then fine. Keep in mind though, that bullies, like the one that latched on to you, will deliberately try to incite you, challenge you, guilt you, and emotionally manipulate you. They are desperate for you to respond; a bully without a willing target to engage with their drama, is a powerless bully.
You may want to consider reporting and forwarding their messages to ebay, especially if their are clear indications of them wanting to buy outside ebay. Perhaps ebay would give them a swift kick out the door?

That's the key, right there. When they're offering triple the current bid (whatever the price might have been at the time they made the offer), but don't want to just bid like everyone else and simply wait to win it for that much or less, you should wonder why.

The offered triple the price because they are afraid the auction will end much higher than that so they are trying to get you to sell it now for a price that might sound good to you to save them some money.
Look at your listing, it is already 11 times more than your starting bid, did you expect that?
Not sure when the offer came in and what numbers the listing was sitting at but you still have over a day to go and have 53 watchers but some of those might be from the board here being nosey, oh what the heck lets make it 54 watchers, i'll be nosey too. 🙂

There used to be a link in the message interface for reporting abuse of eBay's message system. I wonder where it went?

This also could be used for reporting.
"if you feel that a buyer has violated eBay policies, let us know."
