I am not brand new to eBay but I haven't sold or purchased anything in a few years. I went to post a single item for sale and continue to receive a message telling me I need to request higher selling limits. I really don't need a limit increase, I'd just like to sell one item.
When creating my listing, eBay suggested I start my item at $35. This is one of the messages I receive when I try to list my item.
"You've only listed or sold 0 items of your 1 monthly limit. You can list or sell up to $10.00 more to reach your $10.00 monthly limit. If you're planning to increase your selling activity or list one or more higher value items, you'll need to contact an agent to provide additional details to increase your limits."
I've attempted customer service contact but have been consistently told it's unavailable.
I'd appreciate any advice.

New and occasional sellers have restrictions. It's a bit paternalistic but is meant to protect both buyers (from naive or sketchey sellers) and sellers (from sketchey buyers).
You may have more success contacting eBay through their Facebook or Twitter accounts.

Did you ever figure this out? I have the same stupid message. Found if I started at $10 it would post but accidentally posted without a reserve so got screwed when sold.
