Confused about payment and when to ship...

Guess who's back again with another dumb question 🙂

(it's me)

Anyway, I'm so confused about my sold items. It says buyer hasn't paid but it says payment initiated? Before I shipped it said payed with paypal or card or whatever - still as "payment initiated" but now it just says delivered and I haven't gotten any money yet? I have the right email on the paypal and everything. I'm just really confused... Am I supposed to wait to ship? Did I just lose the money on the two items that were already delivered? What is it supposed to say when I'm supposed to ship it? Please view photos below so I can find out if I

m supposed to ship these today or not....

Thank you 🙂

You ship when it shows up in your "awaiting shipment" section. At least I do.

https://www.ebay.com/sh/ord/?filter=status:AWAITING_SHIPMENT

P.S. The App is trash...don't rely on the App.

@lpscollector1

Since you still accept PayPal, log into your account directly (not from a link or email) and see the details about these transactions.  That is where you will find if you were really paid, or what is up.  eBay may direct PayPal to hold you funds until the items show delivery.

In my case, I wait to get paid.

It means the buyer paid with an echeck, which takes up to 2 weeks to clear. You're not required to ship until the payment clears, but I've never had one not clear before.

I think you'll be okay on the items you've already shipped, but next time you'll want to wait until the payment is clear and the order shows up in the Awaiting Shipment tab, as gkn mentioned.

Confused about payment and when to ship...

If EBAY says "awaiting shipment" that means you ship immediately.     If shipment says "awaiting payment" do not ship but send buyer invoice so they can pay.

FYI, I noticed that you have NOT switched over to MANAGED PAYMENTS.    Sellers are required to enroll in Managed Payments ASAP if you want to continue selling on EBAY.    To enroll you need to provide checking account (routing#) and social security# (for tax purposes).  Name on checking account, social security card and EBAY profile page must be EXACT MATCH (or your application may be denied).

Confused about payment and when to ship...

I just talked with EBAY Help Desk because I have similar "awaiting payment" problem.    They said DO NOT SHIP until you get payment.    They said send invoice to customer and if customer doesn't pay after 5 days EBAY will automatically cancel that order.

LOL, I wouldn't trust anything they say...ever. Already the statement that if the customer doesn't pay after 5 days eBay will automatically cancel that order is WRONG, it's not automatic.

From their own page...

  • If a buyer hasn’t paid after 5 calendar days, you can cancel the transaction.

A seller can setup automatic cancellations from their settings, it is NOT done by eBay.

Also, these items would not show up in awaiting shipment, they would show up in awaiting payment, and no one is dumb enough to ship at that stage...or are they?

Confused about payment and when to ship...

Does anyone know if EBAY explicitly guarantees payment to the seller when they say "awaiting shipment"?  Is there ANYTHING that can happen to cause the seller to not get paid when EBAY says "awaiting shipment"?  Why not just wait until payment is in one's checking account before shipping?  Thanks.

Awaiting shipment means the buyer has paid and is expecting you to mail.

If you wait until it hits your bank account, unless you have your handling time set long enough, you'll have late shipments, which is bad.

Also, by using pending payments, you can use that money to pay for shipping.

Confused about payment and when to ship...

Okay I have a question, so I have my EBay linked to my Shopify store & I do dropshipping, will I basically have to wait until the payment hits my bank account to fulfill the order so that it can be processed & shipped by the supplier ? Or are we able to use the pending funds for that? Just trying to understand that whole part 😭
