Hi everyone! Me again.
I've wanted to discuss this for awhile & it's complicated. So I'll just start with how I use eBay.
First of all I mostly use my phone (android) and my preference is to use the chrome app. And Desktop View (full site view).
I also have the eBay app. Which I use for sale notifications & searching for products only. I don't like the app for listing or viewing my sales account details.
I also sell on .com & .ca
So I'll fire up my web browser. Right away I'm forced into mobile view. So I always check. Desktop View.
While in desktop view if I click on view order details 80% of the time it will force me into the app. I don't want to be forced into the app. So I'm constantly closing the app it opens. 20% of the time it will do what I want. & go to the link as browser & desktop view .
To bypass being forced into the app. I click and hold order details link. & pop up open in new tab window. Which gives new window on browser mobile mode. Which I go and check back into desktop view. This is a time consuming process considering I spend a great deal of time on eBay.
Constantly bouncing around browser mobile, to desktop to app. Back to mobile & finally back to the desktop I wanted. Any wrong link click. & I'm forced back I to the app.
Can be frustrating when your flopping around for 5-10 minutes when all your tryi g to do is view order details.
Also. There is this glitch. That lets say I am on the browser desktop mode. & clicking view order details & it forces me into the app. Well just to view the order details would be fine in the app. But the app does not display the buyers order details it displays my last purchase order details... that's a glitch. & guess what I have to do.
The entire process all over again.
I'm not trying to complain.
I want to point out an issue concerning the platforms.
And then there's the .com vs the .ca
This really can become messy. As the .com sometimes wants me to relic in of I'm on the .ca & vice versa. Which all forces me into the app or desktop re login page and when I re enter my password. It logs me In no where. And I have to start the process all over again.
To click a simple link & actually go there is not as smooth or easy as it seems
If you love the desktop view as much as I do
(real website with real options) the mobile browser view lacks options & so does the app the stuff I use & am use to are on desktop mode. Just like you were on your PC
Anyone else have platform issues with simple clicks that takes you an extreme amount of time.
Is there guidance for Me?
Or am I just complicated? Lol. I really do not like apps they always lack options same with mobile view. you have on desktop view.
I accidently gave poor feedback on the app version once because as I went to swipe the page down. It swiped the stars away instead and I already had my finger on submit. 😲

To keep eBay browser links from opening in the eBay app automatically:
If you have an Android device (aside from a Chromebook), then using the device manager, under Settings: Apps: eBay: Open by default -- there is a setting called "Open supported links" holding that down gives three choices: "Open in this app" "Ask every time" and "Don't open in this app". Choose "Don't open in this app". Changing that setting prevented browser links from opening up in the app automatically for me.
If you have a Chromebook, open Chromebook Settings, scroll down to Google Play Store and select it. Select "Manage Android Preferences". From there the above instructions should work -- go to Apps: eBay: Open by default: Open supported links: "Don't open in this app". Then back out of the settings and you should be all set. Or else, open Chromebook Settings, and select Apps. Select "Manage your Apps". From there go to eBay: More Settings: Advanced: Open by default: Open supported links: "Don't open in this app".
If you have an iOS device, try holding down the link -- you should see some options about how the link is opened that should be remembered for the next time you open such a link.
Regarding desktop mode in a mobile browser:
Once you have selected desktop mode in a particular browser tab, links opened within that same tab should remain in desktop mode; if you open a link in a new tab however, the new tab will default to mobile mode, and you will have to select desktop mode for that tab if desired.

it will force me into the app.....
Delete the app, problem solved. Hopefully, someone will come by with better information for you. I do know what you are experiencing, and have experienced the same of always being forced into app use with an android phone even when starting out with a browser or changing to "desktop" or "classic" view.
I do not use my phone for any sort of business so deleting the apps that function like you describe is no problem for me.
