Cluster of sold items being relisted "automatically"? Why? What to do?

I seem to recall several threads over the years of members complaining that eBay had relisted one or more of their sold items.   That was something I'd never experienced until this week.  I looked for past solutions on these boards, but I don't seem to be using the right key words.

Can someone help with what to do or with links to threads where the solution was provided?

To detail: Five items over past two days that are sold have been relisted - not by me. (I concede accidents are possible. I might have done one by accident, but not by accident several times over several days and two accounts.)

These have been both auction and fixed price items sold at buy it now and by accepted offer.

Are there any switches I may have accidentally switched in business policies or site preferences. I did somehow turn on shipping and return policies sometime this week.

Thank you to all.

Its a glitch.  And there is nothing you or I can do about it.  I have had this happen 1 time, couple months ago.  One day, I was checking my listings and I came across a watch that grab my attention.  I thought I was going crazy, as I remember that I had sold that watch before.  I look up my sold listings, and there it was.  I had sold it.  I removed the current listing and that was that.

Some people write down the number of listings that they have every afternoon, and check the next day the amount of listings that they have.  I know its a drag.

It is a known glitch Ebay will not fix, consider yourself lucky to discover the relisting of the already sold items before these items were sold again, sellers come here to report the sale of "ghost" listings after they were resold.

Ebay will punish you with their metric system for selling out of stock item due to their incompetency.

it is what it is.

It helps damage and you then have to try and go through customer service for hours and days to get it fixed if at all..

We have had 38 of them this year, so we dropped the the subscription and keep close tabs on the 200 listings we left up, just pulled 3 of them this week..lame.

Wow! It's not my incompetency or imagination.  I have caught a 2nd listing several times and ascribed it to listing the same item twice.  I am now a 2nd class seller as eBay says I couldn't supply the item as it was already sold.  I guess it is best to take a listing count every day.

Ebay and their "Great buying experience",  why won't  they fix it?

1st you get a frustrated buyer who is not getting what he paid for, he might shop elsewhere.

2nd you have a frustrated seller who find himself unable to fulfill an order due to Ebay incompetency,

he might sell elsewhere.

3rd Ebay punishes the seller for their own produced glitch...

It is probably a very complicated glitch to fix.  maybe the same programmer who adjusted the PL'S to start charging the sellers on top of the selling price, shipping and taxes should try and fix the ghost listings glitch 🤔

Weird.

The way I do it is to keep a running total of how many listings I have each day on a post it note next to my computer. I update it when I am done for the day.

The next day when I start working again I double check the total and if I find anything amiss I start investigating.

It happens.

To all. @joseh1445 , @flyingmvp , @catruckmanatmarmachine , @anjofak , @the_fancy_fox !

Thank you for sharing your frustrations.

Writing down the number of listings, simple and effective. Now, if only I do it.

Best wishes,

It's a glitch known as a  "ghost listing".

In 20+ years i've never had it happen to me

but i've seen others report it happening to them.

If you get in trouble because of a ghost listing,

call ebay customer service and let them know what happened.

@iamonourside

Be glad you caught it before they sold again.

The Glitch is real, e-Bay *knows* it is happening and yet, it continues to occur.  We just dealt with this and were dinged in our metrics for OOS.  Very unfair.

One thing to look at is the "out of stock" setting.  That could result in a "fixed price" listing remaining active, but would only be seen by you, and would show as "0" available.
