Don't credit card companies and other payment processors do the same thing?

It's a small price to pay for eBay collecting the taxes for ALL the states and remitting them to those states for me.
My time is worth money- trying to do each state, proper percentages & the paperwork, then remitting to the state?
Yeah IMHO it's a fair deal..

Wonder why nobody complained when PayPal charged a fee on the total payment they procesed, which also included sales tax?
How is it "criminal" when eBay does it?

LOL. That's not how it works.
You simply need to tell us which law is being broken.

Oh, there was a few on the PayPal forums busting a vein over it, talking about class action suit. Then crickets. But it’s the times. It’s the times. It was nice while all the perks lasted then, “whack!” The rest is history.

So you would happily remit the sales tax yourself to all 50 states on a regular basis rather than pay a small fee?
Sure...

I would try to change your mind but there are already 7 others who posted with good reasons for you to change your mind.

Some states don't have any sales tax and the small seller rarely cracks the threshold to report and pay in more than one or two states.

Pay eb more fees so they can make more. Raise FVF more please. They love you generosity!

Why is every post on this subject alleging it is "criminal"?
Do folks even understand what constitutes a "criminal" act?
Boredom ÷ Click Bait = these threads.

Maybe because PP only charged ~3% on it, and ebay charges 4x as much, even though they get to keep a percentage which the states allow to pay for their effort collecting and remitting those taxes?
Its not "criminal" in a legal sense, but in an ethical sense, maybe there is a case.
