Hi, I am helping a friend sell an iPhone, where the shipping address is from her home in the UK. Is there a way that I can make the return address my United States address, should the person decide to return the phone?
Thanks.

Here is what eBay says (there may be more elsewhere, I'm not sure):

Is this your account where the phone is now listed?
This is a high scam item.
I dont see any other sales on this account.
If you have it sell in this account and there is a return, it will come back to the address on this account.
Doesnt matter where it ships from.
Make sure you are set up to receive payment.
Please read the MBG so you know what you face when the buyer says "not as described"
Please read about seller hold on payments.
Also eBay will need your SS # to report your earning to the IRS.
Good luck!

They would have to do that from their account...

Thank you both. I haven't made a sale in many years. When you say "This is a high scam item," are you saying that the iPhone is a high scam item or my account looks questionable? I updated my shipping address. Good that the return will come to my home address.

I have been selling since '01. I would NEVER list any type of I - anything. The chances are pretty good you will loose the item and the funds. I agree with the above posters. This is like sitting and waiting for the other shoe to drop. Not a question of will it fail but WHEN will it fail!
Make sure you read and understand the e bay money back guarantee. If they claim the item is not as described you WILL pay for the return shipping and refund the total sale price including shipping to the "buyer" If they buyer returns a box of rocks well that is called faulty return and you will still refund. Then you may win on an appeal if you file all police reports etc.

Thanks for your detailed reply and thanks again to everyone for replying and letting me know about scams, "not as described" and the money back guarantee. I've removed my listing and will try some other method for selling the iPhone. I definitely don't need to trade it for a box of rocks.

Thank you.

@gr8isales4u Glad you came here asking great questions. My heart goes out to the sellers who get hurt financially by some horrible scammers!

A success story! 😊
Believe me, you will not regret it.

Take that item off sell it locally or do not sell anything for anyone that’s not your direct family living with you. Do not sell that on eBay your chances of getting scammed are higher than you realize. You don’t want to be responsible.

The phone is a high scammed item and there's a good chance you'll loose the phone and any payment made.
Which ever account the phone is being sold on, the return address needs to be changed, not the shipping address.
