my buyer contact me as he receives delivery stating he’s upset because I didn’t tell him that the phone was googol locked. I said oh I didn’t realize that was even a thing I said I can help you with unlocking that I know the details password, etc. and then he said he was also upset because he’s in a get the top of the box as I sent the phone out with the bottom of the box listed in the photos with all the information on it. I said well again sir, I listed the phone as parts only non-usable and as it may seem misleading to show the photos with the box I didn’t put in the listing includes box I told him I just showed the box in the photos with all the details to the phone now his demanding $10 because that’s what he paid to get the phone google unlocked  I said well just can you just send a refund because I only made $20 and he said no because he had to pay for the $10 and he’s selling the phone to someone else already I said what if I just sent you the top of the box and five dollars he still said no save all that give me the $10 and you’ll save yourself negative feedback . **bleep** right ?

Cell phone sale question

Well save any messages for sure, especially the buyer threatening you with negative feedback unless you "add-on" to the purchase, that is feedback extorsion and not allowed on eBay

If you sold it "for parts only, not working" why does it need to be unlocked? It's not working,right?

This is your response to Not As Described, even if it is because the buyer didnt read.

"Im sorry you are unhappy with your purchase. Please return for a full refund."

Do not argue. Do not get in to it with the buyer.

Just keep responding the same.

You as a seller should never post photos of items NOT included.

The buy has no right to ask you for $ for unlocking or boxes.

BUT he can ask for a return and be 100% refunded.

It's a "he said she said" story. You can report the buyer but honestly I seriously doubt anything would happen. It took 2 years with sellers and buyers complaining about someone selling fake stamps on eBay...to get the seller off the platform...seller had so much negative feedback but lasted a long time before anyone did something.

Do you have another eBay account and is that the one with the sale on it? If buyer does a nasty feedback eBay or you can maybe remove it if the buyer saids certain words.

If this is the only account you have I assume you haven't receive the funds from the sale yet...if you have another account then the refund immediately will come out of "available funds".

Its feedback vs. 10 bucks. But I think because of the back and forth emails already the buyer will probably not give a decent feedback.

@smg9-10

Cell phones and electronics are the most scammed items on eBay.  My suggestion would not to sell them here or anywhere.  It's not worth the headaches.  JMO.

Any other day I couldn’t care less about the 10 measly dollars,  its just principle.  This is my only account. I’m just glad this went away the way it did

     Probably an excellent idea. Cell phones have to be on the top of the scammers list and there are 100's if not 1,000's of postings on this forum from sellers who were scammed out of a cell phone. There are a lot less risky ways to sell cell phones through local forums.
