I do a lot of listings in the transit token category under Coins and Paper Money/Exomumia.  Recently there has been a seller flooding the category with dozens of buy-it-now listings for non-transit tokens that belong in other categories.  I have dropped the seller a couple of polite messages pointing out that he/she was listing these items in the wrong category (and that he/she would be more likely to sell them if they were under the correct category), and also reported the listings to eBay as such, but he continues to list these items in the wrong category.  I know that occasionally items accidentally get listed in the wrong place, but it's pointless for eBay to have categories if sellers like this can continue to flood a category with items that belong under another category.  You would think that eBay would let sellers know that their items are not listed in the proper category when they are reported as such and follow up with the seller if he/she continues to list them in the wrong place.  Otherwise, why bother creating the specialized categories?

eBay only cares about the money they will make.

Look at all the reproductions of photos listed in the vintage photos.

Having eBay control what category an item is in is also dangerous to a seller's bottom line because eBay management is clueless. Since the creation of eBay its been common; for example, to list a book on a particular subject in a category related to that subject instead of having it lost among the millions of books. Yet eBay management still does understand that concept and when books are listed in these other categories they disable media mail for the item.

When ebay gets enough reports of this, they will take the items down and inform the seller, but it can takes weeks before that happens.

For those like me who had never heard the term:

Exomumia:

"Exonumia are numismatic items (such as tokens, medals, or scrip) other than coins and paper money. This includes "Good For" tokens, badges, counter-stamped coins, elongated coins, encased coins, souvenir medallions, tags, wooden nickels and other similar items."
