I sold an item on 29/08/19 was posted 31/08/19 the buyer has now today opened a case the that have not received it without sending me a message and it’s only the 8/09. I put their reference number in Royal Mail and it says pending they have tried to deliver but the address was inaccessible they will try again. I’ve sent the buyer the receipt of delivery what it says when I track the reference number and also the number itself. They have not answered yet.
Just wondering if this problem has occurred before.
should I worry?

Be careful not to harass your buyer, @jadefriend16. eBay considers any attempt to deliver to be the same as delivery confirmation. This is universal eBay policy, even over there on the other side of the pond in your kingdom.

No. You know the reason why the buyer has not received the item. You contacted the buyer with the reason. The buyer needs to contact his/her local post office if they cannot access the home/apartment for delivery.
