Cancelling an order when payment is on hold?

I posted a listing months ago, it got no interest so I forgot about it. I should have cancelled it but things got busy and I just forgot.

Today I was clearing out my email inbox and found an eBay email I missed from last week saying the item had sold. I’m now overdue on dispatching the item, the buyer has paid, but because my account is new I have a payment hold in place and won’t receive any funds until next week.

I’ve searched high and low but this tiny item is lost, so I’m going to have to cancel the order and refund the buyer. But because of the payment hold I haven’t actually received any money, I’m just going to be out of pocket for the full amount.

Will I still receive the money next week even if I cancel the order and refund the buyer today? Or does eBay just keep the money and I’m screwed?

Cancelling an order when payment is on hold?

Yes ... cancel the order citing Out of Stock or Item is no longer available. Your buyer's payment is approved and will eventually process out to you. Good luck.
