Cancelled order but not showing on buyer side

Buyer sent an offer for my item. I accepted but buyer did not pay. I sent a reminder to pay couple days later and buyer said they no longer wanted the item. I cancelled the order and a few minutes after I got an email saying the buyer paid. My details of the transaction say it was cancelled, "nothing left to do" and I was able to relist my item. A week ago buyer messaged me asking when I am shipping the item. I replied that I had cancelled the order after our initial messages and provided screenshots. He replied a week later that his side says he paid and he was never refunded, that the item was not cancelled. I provided 2 more screenshots of my side that says it was cancelled. Am I missing something? I'm a new seller and want to rectify this if I am in the wrong. Any advice?

If eBay says buyer didn't pay and order is cancelled- that's what you go with.

Sounds like this "buyer" is trying to trick you into sending out the item without being paid. 

The email you received right after cancelling; stating buyer paid, did that come from eBay? Is it in your eBay transaction record?
