Canceling Order: A cluster all around..

Short version:

1. I don't understand the .40 charge.

2. I don't understand why they are asking me to link another payment to make the .40 payment when I already have Venmo linked to my account and never had a problem. It's still linked as I write this.

Longer version: So I've never had to cancel a sale before but I'm forced to for reasons beyond my control. Here's where I'm at....

Review refund

$478.80

I'm confused about the $0.40. The payment by the buyer was made, but hasn't even reached my account yet. If the transaction is being canceled then the buyer would simply get everything he paid refunded back to him/her. What's the extra $0.40 for?

Question #2. It says above that $410.74 of the refund is covered by "My funds". I don't even know what that is? I've been using Venmo for several months. It's the only payment method I have linked to ebay. Is "My Funds" my Venmo account? Furthermore I don't understand why they are asking for another payment method to cover the .40, which again I don't even understand what that charge is for.

This is a cluster to me. Any help?

The .40 is a transaction fee that is charged on every transaction.

I have my bank account linked to receive payments and a credit card attached to my account to cover any unforseen, chump change charges I might incur.

For me, it would happen, similar to your scenario,  I would have a payout and then a return and end up short a little on funds to complete a refund. If I am a nickel short, they charge my credit card in order to complete the refund.

40 cents is fee that is charged by company that processes money for all EBAY sales.    Even if you cancel the sale...you still owe 40 cents for their services.

Usually you need to link your checking account# or credit card to EBAY to cover these types of fees.

I doubt a Venmo account would work, I don't use it but is it even possible for a third party to debit a Venmo account?

The 40 cent Transaction Fee is only refundable under specific circumstances.

Every money processor  charges a  transaction fee - eBay is now the money processor via an agreement with Ayden.  It  used to be  30 cents but now its 40 cents - consistent with other money processors   PayPal used to be the money processor until their their "divorce" was finalized.

Time changes everything - recall when I paid 6 cents for a 6 oz bottle of coca cola that included the 2 cent deposit - what a difference a day or almost 8 decades makes - am a  '44 model.  That deposit is now 10 cents per can in the state that looks like a hand - good idea keeps most of the can litter of the roads & highways (except for  visitors).

Thank you! Got it now. However, I do have my MasterCard linked as well as Venmo. In fact I just double checked so not sure why it's not giving my that option to pay the fee. Thanks again though.

So I just added two different NEW cards to my account via the "Add a payment Method" below... to pay any sellers fees, etc. Both cards got added, I get a confirmation window that the cards have successfully been added, both cards show in my account...

However, neither card, nor my MasterCard I already have linked to my account will show up at the bottom of the page where it tells me to select how to pay. It still says to Add a Payment Method, lol.

Is it on this page you're talking about?

At the bottom under selling cost?

Have a great day.

I'm not a new seller. I've been selling for decades on and off. Never had a problem issuing a refund before.
