Can you grow your Ebay sales after a certain point?

I know this has been covered with every conspiracy theory known to man.  I've been stuck at a certain level of sales for the last 3-4 years.  Every year the inventory $ count goes up but I dont generate more in sales.  I'm wondering if I would have been better to start new ebay stores instead of adding and adding to the existing store

Really, so you know what eBay is hiding from you and won't let you buy?  Is it something that is overpriced and in poorer condition than the same item that other sellers are selling?

Actually I have seen ebay not show me listings.  And I found out they were hiding them by doing the same search several different times over a few days and getting gradually larger numbers each time.  And when I actually bought one, ebay showed me 5 other listings of the same item at least 20% cheaper - right there on my confirmed sale page - that ebay never showed me before.  Way to potentially get 2 sales on the books, ebay.

The next day, I did another search, same thing and amazingly ebay showed me over 1500 more items that had been on ebay the whole time but were nowhere in the numbers of items ebay coughed up in search results.

Besides, ebay has a whole clause in the UA that says that ebay will not show all the listings all the time.

My guess is they  dole out sales across the platform to many sellers to keep more sellers in the game.  Its very bizarre to me that I can have a huge $ sale that should skew my numbers way up for the month but after 30 days I'm back to the same #'s for the past 30 days.  For example lets say you sell $5000 a month on average and early in the month you sell a big ticket $1000 item followed by a $500 item a day later.  In my experience inevitable I would end up around the usual $5000 number by the end of the thirty days.

Maybe I have too much time looking at this stuff

Yes, i do. I’ve done a Search on eBay and come up with x number of items. Then right after, i google the item to find more and see there are missing listings. Those eBay listings came up in Google’s Search but not eBay’s! Very frustrating to have to do this when i make a purchase, but if i am comparing prices, it’s worth it to me to have more choices.

I just pulled this from my older post...

Here's a perfect example of that practice by eBay:

2 weeks ago my wife was looking at a book on eBay and wanted it. She asked me to purchase it since she doesn't log onto eBay on her laptop. I was currently logged on eBay and typed in the title "Cora Pearl" and the search kept changing Cora to Coral, until I disabled the search engine from changing my keywords. When my search came back with 0 results I checked the sold and completed listings and got the same thing. I asked my wife to spell the name in case I spelled it wrong. That wasn't it. After spending 15 mins sorting through everything under all categories I gave up.

My wife brought her laptop down stairs to me and said what's your problem? There's 11 copies of the book for sale on eBay. I told her that I couldn't pull them up using the search. She hands me her laptop and there's 11 copies staring me right in the face. I replicated everything she did and still I got 0 results. I ended up on the phone with eBay CS ripping some unsuspecting rep a new one about the system  interfering with my search as a buyer.

I guess I should also be grateful that eBay was looking after my best interests by using cookies to redirect my searches and showing me only what eBay thought I should look at to buy. Not happening here. I can think for myself when I'm shopping. I don't need eBay as a wet nurse. One of those sellers lost out on a 75.00 book sale because I didn't buy the book on eBay. There's another way that eBay costs sellers sales. Rile up the buyer.

eBay does this garbage everyday. I spend a good chunk of my day online researching items and prices and I deal with this issue almost everyday since I will end most of my searches on Google, and will pull up listings there, that never appeared on eBay when I did the search on eBay.

I find the search manipulation often when researching my prices to list new items in the sports card world. I think what they do to fur seals would be appropriate for some clowns in San Jose.

You live in a finite World.

You have been duped into thinking infinite growth is possible.
