Can't finish listing a product. Error message about tax

Ebay won't let me finish listing an item because it keeps showing me the following error message..

the selected tax rate is lower than the minimum allowed value, or greater than the maximum allowed value.

Any help will be much appreciated. I live in the state where there is no sales tax.

Can't finish listing a product. Error message about tax

My ebay > Summary > Account > Site preferences >Payment from buyers > Show > Use sales tax table > Edit

Now type in the percentage for those states where you have a presence. Click SAVE.

Make sure all states show 0% or blank.

Thank you for your help! All the states are already blank. I put 0% on all. Saved it and tried finishing the draft and still same error is showing. How would I know what state the item will be sold to? How do I find out the sales tax rate for each state? eBay says that it will collect taxes when and where needed. But why is this becoming an issue for us sellers? Frustrated! 😞

Oh boy, where to start.  Are you a BIG seller with hundreds of transactions in many states?

If so, you might meet the requirement of having and economic nexus in the state and be required to collect sales tax.  IF that is the situation, then one needs to get a tax advisor or website/service that can help with such.

Get educated here:

And here:

Other wise if one is UNDER the economic nexus limits, then you do not need to collect or remit taxes.  Ebay will collect taxes for each sale when the state has a "Facilitator" law.

THAT is how you "know" tax rates and when one is required to collect them.

The economic nexus rule kind of uses the location of the seller. You need to set it up anywhere you have a presence and a percentage for each, even if it is zero I guess. The economic nexus is only used when the buyer lives in one of your nexus states which you say is zero percent.

Don't confuse it with the USE tax which large sellers have to capture based on the buyer location. In two States so far, that responsibility has been switched over to the Marketplace Facilitator (Ebay). Any of these MF taxes will be collected and remitted by Ebay.

If a MF rule takes over in YOUR State, it will override your sales tax collection.
