Can a buyer report having received a damaged item 30 days after having received it?

A buyer contacted me saying "It was received - DAMAGED, but I'm prepared to overlook this as I have glued the broken pieces together again".

This was 30 days after he had received the item, And I'm not sure how I should respond to him or what to do.

Any help on this is highly appreciated, Thanks!

30 days is the cutoff for a ebay claim.

If it it beyond that, the buyer could file a chargeback with their credit card company or paypal (however they paid).

But if  the buyer is willing to overlook this, I wouldn't worry about it.

Apologize to them, thank them and move on.

As a seller, you should get familiarized with eBay's moneyback guarantee. Buyers have 30 after expected delivery to make a claim of item not received or item not as described. I don't see anything sold under your id, most likely just a posting id. I'm assuming you are a new seller, and if such, you will be a target for many scams. Sometimes buyers make claims to see if you give them a partial refund. As to what to do know, nothing. Buyer said he has glued it together and is prepared to overlook it. If he files an item not as described, based on his comment, he has already altered the pieces. Good luck.

Keep that Message (you did get it though eBay Messages, right?) because if he does open a Claim through Paypal or his card, this will be part of your defence.

And remember, even if you have a No Returns policy*, you are allowed to demand the return, although you may have to pay for shipping.

Demanding the return often ends the claim, since the scammer wants to have his cake and eat it too.

*No Returns does NOT mean No Refunds. It only means you are telling eBay that you never want to see the item again.

If you send a Return Shipping Label, and it is not used, eventually the cost will be refunded.
