I received a message from a potential buyer after the listing ended. They had made an offer half an hour before the listing ended and I countered it with about 20 minutes left on the listing. I guess they didn't have time to respond so they sent me a message after the listing ended with an offer price. I know I can't accept the offer as it would be outside of ebay at this point. I actually don't want to accept it right now since I am taking the item to an antique show tomorrow and want to see if I can sell it there.
I just want to reply to them saying I cannot entertain their offer since it is on an expired listing. But I am afraid that the bots will catch this and say I am offering to sell outside of ebay if I respond at all.

@nancyschina, I'd just ignore it for now. Take your item to the antiques show. If it sells, then it's a moot point. If it doesn't, relist it, then message the person and tell him/her it's been relisted, provide the new listing number, and invite them to purchase/make a best offer if they wish.

I wouldn't with som much going on right now, technical issues, the bots picking up on everything, and the worst thing is you may not even know the bots picked up on it and then you have a "ding" somewhere that is costing you in ways you don't even know about.

You can respond with:
Dear Buyer:
That listing has expired, but I might be relisting it next week, depending on circumstances.
If I do relist, I will message you with the new listing number. If I don't, I will message to let you know that the item is no longer available. Either way, you will hear from me within the next few days.
Thank you for your interest.

PS-I hope you get a decent price at the market 🙂
