So is it common practice for eBay to take the side of people who do not read the description, and you can prove it when they want to return the item due to a defect that you wrote in the description? My second item sold, and he even outbid someone TWICE for it. And eBay is like yea we reviewed it, and it seems like you are in the right, so we will pay to have it shipped back to you, but you have to refund the money. Now I basically know that when I get the item back it is going to be irreparabley damaged because I fought the buyer on the return so now am I not only down for shipping cost, seller fees, I also will not have a sellable item because of someone's utter stupidity and not following rule number one of buying ANYTHING off the internet of reading the description. I took down all items and I will never buy or sell on this site again. So much for protecting sellers. Anything I have ever bought from here I never had a problem with, and I have to appologize to the other potential buyers that I might have one day purchased from. Oh and yeah null boyfriend also is selling, and has some of my stuff posted. Well not anymore, and he really does not know how to market stuff and I am not contributing to eBay profits. I hate saying that, but I am hurt and saddened, and this is quite literally bankrupting me. Thanks eBay. I did everything right the way I was supposed to, and now I am penniless and itemless.

Yes, it is very common ebay practice. It's been like this for many years. And all sellers deal with this every day. Be happy that eBay is not forcing you to pay to have the item returned back to you. That happens sometimes too.
Take it from a seller whose paid the postage to get returns on underwear just because the buyer didn't read the description or size chart, only to receive the underwear that immediately goes in the trash because they are all worn, stretched out, glitter laced, and having unusual odors.

As I said when they send out the Change notice. I am not bothering to Sell here ever again, nor buy.
Anyone whom allows panties to be returned has No Integrity as Ebay allowed to be return! This is a personal item I would trash it too!
Sellers will just simply Bow out like the person above, and what I am doing. I use to like Selling and buying but when my auctions were never looked at I knew something was wrong. I was throwing away money.
I feel bad for everyone...ruthless Companies. Are losers.
My Mom started on Ebay years and years ago. She is never selling again either.
Sadly Ebay has cut their best Sellers to leave.
It is their problem!

Unfortunately, with 170 million users, I don't think they are going to miss you or your Mom.

$44.50 plus shipping?
04-14-2018 05:41 AM
Yes, that 44 and change ment that to me, it's the only income I have had in over two weeks, henceforth which is why I am trying g to sell all my stuff that I don't have a need for anymore and why I made sure to do everything legit and forthcoming. And no it's not just the 44, it's also the shipping, and the selling fees and the pay pal fees. To most people that is not much money, and I would have agreed with them a couple years ago. Health and other issues has just given me a run of completely bad luck, some of it was self made, but I am not letting it get me down. I learned my lesson. eBay just is bad now. They really don't care because in the end, they really are not losing on the money. But hey, I am still here to give em he** for another day.

Your description:
This is a blend of kinetic electricity and light, making unique differentiated patterns. Electricity in its purist form sealed between two sheets of glass, and the vivid orange green and blue light captures your attention. Fits into any high-tech decor or futuristic/ space decor. In star-trek voyager you can see an all green versions in the borgs recharge stations. It has two settings, continually on, and sound activated. When I packed it away a year ago the sound activate worked, but can't seem to get it to work. I am the original owner from store, have had it for over 5 years last 2 years it's been in a box. Is adjustable in the back for the stand, and on the back outer rim about 2 inch long is chipped, maybe a mm or two deep. Other than that works fine, pics are of the actual light 2 days ago plugged in.
What makes you think it won't be returned to you in the same condition you sent it?
The buyer's feedback says it won't even power on. You disbelieve that or is it possible that it was damaged in transit? You seem to be saying that the buyer didn't read the description but your description doesn't say that the unit won't power on. Only that the sound activation won't work.

Yes, that's true.
Regardless of the cause, and whether it's fixable - I'm at a loss to know what the seller is saying the buyer didn't read the description if the unit not powering on is the buyer's complaint.

Buyer said it won't power on, so what has that got to with the description ?
Anyway, if you've stopped selling, I suppose you won't care about that feedback policy violation you left for the buyer.

Well when the first and second response I had for the buyer was asking what exactly was wrong, did it not power on at all and the only issue he responded with was that the sound mode did not work which was the setting he intended to use it on so it was useless to him. I explained that I stated the sound mode did not work in the description, that was when he told me I was "hiding behind my description" and purposefully "sold a defective item" and then changed it up to it did not power on at all. Since the buyer stated he wanted it for the sound setting if he would have read the description he never would have put in two bids to get it, it is obvious it is not what he wanted. The only other way he would know that setting did not work is if it did power on and just did not switch to that mode. So did he just ignore my description, knowingly buying a item that they knew they were going to be unhappy with, or are they lying because they did not read the description and will say anything to fix their own mistake. Either way I did everything to make sure every "defect" was known.

I find it tricky to sell broken stuff. I usually claim that my "wonky" item is only for parts or repair. That way it is totally clear that the item is not working right. I put it in the title, use "for parts or repair" as the condition, and I put the issues up-front in the description.
I find this particularly important with electronics. Electronics that are partially broken can be really challenging to assess. Why did it stop working properly? Are you sure that the remaining functional part will still function for a reasonable amount of time? If I can't assess it, my approach as a seller is to "shoot low" and "be pessimistic".
You can, of course, be an optimist and claim that it is a good item with some flaws. But in that case you should expect more claims for refund. I see many sellers list items that need repair as "used". In my experience, this is an approach that will lead to more unhappy customers and therefore more returns that are harder to fight. I know I've bought "used" items and sucessfully challenged the seller when the item was significantly less than noted in the tone of their descritpion.
Using my pessimistic strategy, I find that buyers can still make the mistake of buying an item that they don't really want, and demanding to return it. But I found that eBay hasn't sided with them.

Reading descriptions is not longer a required skill to buy on this site--the only reading needed is the buyer protection policy and if no deisre to read that which happens a lot--ask the community 7/24
Nothing wrong with having a buyer protection policy--but the current policy needs revamping via limits and stricter rules to protect honest sellers from dishonest buyers.
Stricter rules/defects for sellers that refuse to ship after being paid
I know wishful thinking!
