This is the second time this has happened to us in the last month. Both times we sent it to the Ebay and Paypal address, but don't understand what is going on.

You do not ship to the buyer's mailing instructions. You ship to the address that came with the payment sent by eBay or PayPal. The buyer sees the shipping address when they pay and if it's wrong they have an opportunity to change it before they submit payment. You are covered only if you send it to the address with the payment. If it's the wrong address the buyer is SOL. If you haven't mailed it cancel the transaction citing a problem with the buyers address. Then relist and they can get their address straight and rebuy it.

I assume you make the sale and the buyer pays, then you get a message claiming to be the buyer and wanting it sent to a different address. That is a scammer trying to get you to send to them before you realize it is not your actual buyer. Buyers account has not been hacked. It is a very common scam attempt.
Good that you shipped to the address provided in the payment.

I did ship it to the Paypal address. But he did not put the new address in the buyer instructions. This is the second time this has happened. How is the new address getting into the buyer instructions?

Thanks for the reply. The buyers new address was part of my notification of sale so the hacker was there from the beginning. This is scary.

Every time a buyer asks me to switch an address, I decline and cancel the transaction, then I contact them to tell them why.
I say I cannot make changes to shipping addresses after orders are place because ebay advises me not to. I have cancelled your order but please feel free to place another one after you update your ebay shipping address. No one has ever gotten angry.
