I’ve had three separate buyers purchase expensive RC and electrical connectors (~$60 each) from me, and then initiate returns citing vague reasons like "doesn't work" or "defective," with unclear photos to support their claims. However, when I receive the returned items, they are always cheap, random items—like gift cards, balloons, or stones—typically from China. These returns are either in a flat envelope or a small box (roughly the size of a 4x6 label), clearly not matching the items I sent.
In the first case, I was able to successfully file a "Buyer returned the wrong item" claim, and eBay sided with me. However, the buyer then escalated the issue with a credit card dispute, and fortunately, eBay upheld my side.
The problem with the last two cases is that the buyers are no longer registered users. When I attempt to file the "Buyer returned the wrong item" claim, I get an error message saying "something went wrong, please try again later."
Has anyone else encountered a similar issue with buyers who are no longer registered users? How did you resolve it? Is there another way to escalate these types of disputes when eBay won't allow you to file due to the buyer's account being closed?

This is a typical long utilized process by scammers. Glad things worked out in the first case. Couple questions on the last two that are NARU'ed. Were those by chance 0 feedback accounts where the account had been created the same day by possibly a buyer using a guest account? Was the shipping address to a domestic buyer or a international buyer possibly using a freight forwarder? Was the shipping address by chance the same for the two NARU'ed buyers?
I have never hit this situation so I am not exactly sure how eBay treats the order when it is from a guest account or when eBay considers the transaction and/or return completed and closes the guest account and transaction but possibly a glitch in the system processing.
