This is a first. And of course I didn't see on my Sold page that the buyer had left a message until after I'd already packed and labeled the item. And the only reason I saw it at all was because her label didn't print the first time and then I had to make an effort to go back to the Sold page to select Leave Feedback.
Anyhoo, I sold four lamb/sheep/ram ornaments for $8, free shipping. Turns out this person only wants the ceramic ram (others are plush), and has asked me to ship just the ram and keep/sell the others. I could void label and reprint which would save me a few pennies (8oz vs 3oz), and send her just the ram. And I don't really expect to have her open a "where are my other three ornaments" case. Mailman doesn't come for anonther five hours. Any reason I shouldn't just send the ceramic ram and keep the other ornaments? I think I'd wait a couple weeks and relist the lot of 3 after Thanksgiving, just in case.

Mail them all then explain that you saw the message too late.

I had this happen once with a group of puzzles that I had listed.
Buyer said to just send the one she wanted & I could re-sell the rest.
I saw her note before shipping & messaged her to confirm.
I did as she asked & all was well with the transaction.

as a buyer i have done this in the past multiple times. that was before i had a bunch of second-hand stores in my area. now, i just take the lot and donate what i don't want. however, even now, if i think the rest of the items are valuable enough that the seller could benefit from selling the rest, i would still make the request. i know it sounds odd if it's free shipping, but some of it is because we are considerate if we know we won't be wanting the rest, and some of it is because some people don't have or don't get to a donation location and therefore don't want the hassle of having to get rid of the ones they don't want. plus, lots of places will charge for garbage removal, so it's not even possible in some areas to just throw them out -- altho most people just don't like wasting good items.

It's OK if you want to repack everything and redo the label just to keep your buyer happy and save 16 cents on postage.
Or you can tell her that you saw her message too late, and that the ram would be too lonely if you shipped him without his friends, so they will accompany him and then she can do whatver she wants.

I like the note idea. Item doesn't need to be shipped until tomorrow (although eBay glitch is telling me Thursday) so I have time to wait for a response back.

wants the ceramic ram (others are plush),
The plush ones will make good packing material to keep the ceramic one intact.

That's too funny! That's the way I think of it. Have collected all sorts of little animal objects since I was a kid and they do have friends! Little horse with missing tail is friends with donkey with broken leg, all the little geese are friends and the adult geese play bridge once a week, etc.

That's how I packed at first, then decided the plush ones probably felt naked without at least a piece of tissue paper!

Buyer has confirmed she only wants the ceramic ram, so he's said goodbye to his friends and is out waiting for the mailman to collect him.
