Buyer just messaged me that I overcharged him on shipping and owe him $3 and then fired 10 + messages calling me names, bringing up fair trading, etc., etc., etc... and the last one he just said "bad feedback coming your way" ... after already threatening me with bad feedback on message 3 or 4.
Buyer hasn't even received item. Item was going from GB, WI to Fort Lauderdale, FL, weighed almost 2lbs and cost $8.70. He said it shouldn't cost over $5!!! On what planet?!? Have a feeling because I did not refund him or engage, a false inad is coming.
Not even sure what to do with this?!?

Last message he sent me before I BBL'd him ... and no, he was not charged $11 for shipping.
You have over-charged regarding shipping. I am glad you have reported me. Because you now have reported yourself.
$11 for shipping a pair of shorts is criminal behaviour. Although this amount of $4 is a small amount. If you are selling 3 items a day that is 21 items a week that you are overcharging all of your sales.
That is extra profit fkr you of $50-60.
I view this as commercial theft.
I am demanding your trading address.
As a commercial and criminal attorney I will be serving you papers next week.
I hope your sales figures are known by the IRS so you pay your taxes correctly. As I will also report your business to tje IRS.
Sleep well.

May I ask...
What did the buyer pay for shipping?
What was the actual shipping cost?

Maybe in his own mind, but he's just some moron trying it on. The "sleep well" cracked me up - sure big man, you've got me shaking in my socks.
Don't give in.
ETA: Good you blocked him.

Buyer paid $9.90 and I offered to pay him the difference.
They were heavier mens denim shorts, size 38.

$8.70 is what it cost me

Messaged him and said, you were not charged $11 and thank you, I always sleep well with a smile, then blocked him.

Anything over a pound costs a lot no matter how I ship it. Shipping is expensive, and getting more so with the holiday surcharge.
I wouldn't have offered any refund - he saw shipping, he paid shipping and he doesn't get to ask for something not offered in the listing, i.e., a speshul refund just for him.
Maybe send him a link to the USPS shipping prices. He can educate himself.

What "papers" does this guy think he is going to serve? Doubt he is an attorney because he doesn't know what commercial theft is but if he is then report him to the board in his state. If he is not an attorney then you could still get him in some hot water if you choose since it is illegal in the U.S. to claim to be an attorney when you are not. Dont engage with him and let him keep firing off messages and digging himself in deeper.

You are absolutely correct!

You probably sleep better than he does.

If he does leave you bad feedback eBay will remove it because he threatened to do so in an email. It’s called Feedback Extortion.
What kind of lawyer sweats $2 - 3? Good lord. Sorry you are going through this.

IMO $1.20 is not an excessive overage for the seller to keep.
It helps cover fees on that $9.90 and other expenses such as office/shipping supplies.
But in this case, with this numbskull, i would tell him "you paid this much", "it cost me this much". "I will gladly refund you the difference of $1.20."
He surely can't expect more than that unless he's a total idiot.
As far as the neg feedback, can you talk the buyer into removing it?
Any way to get ebay to reconsider?
If not, just reply to it with a good reply.
REMEMBER! Your reply is for future potential buyers to see how you handle this.
Good luck.

I somehow don't think this buyer will be talked into anything. I would not engage with him further in any way. It's what he wants.
ETA: But yeah, if he leaves a neg feedback, it'll be an opportunity for the OP to shine!

If you could see all the messages he sent! Two or three stated to expect bad feedback. He hasn't even received this item yet!
If he was a reasonable person, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. If he leaves neg I will attempt to have it removed because he threatened me or reply kindly. This is not someone who I imagine I could ever negotiate with.
