Buyer says paid for item but I haven't received Paypal payment

Hi

I have a buyer that didn't pay for an item I went through the normal channels & when no response from buyer was made I opened an unpaid item case.  This case then closed & Ebay refunded me my fees.  Now the buyer has opened a case against me saying item has not been received & sent a message to say she has paid for the item via Paypal.  I can't find the payment in my account & have asked the buyer to confirm when she paid to enable me to check my Paypal account.  This was over a week ago & I still have had no response.  Does anyone have any advisew if I can close this case against me or what I should do to resolve the issue?

Every once in awhile it happens to me.  Sometimes they are right, that they did in fact pay.  It's a little bit of a quirk.  You see in those cases the buyer didn't have any money in their paypal account and they bought an item off ebay with an electronic check to paypal.  Only paypal doesn't release the funds until that check clears, which can take a week.

The buyer knew they paid, but as a seller, I had no idea that they paid because paypal and ebay never notified me that I was paid because technically I wasn't paid yet.  It was a mess, but I never bother to put in unpaid items until the last minute so it wasn't so messed up.

Hi, it sounds like this buyer is confused. It could be she has you mixed up with another seller. But the larger question is how can a buyer open a case against a seller who has already effectively cancelled the transaction via the Unpaid Item Dispute? Normally the way to handle the Item Not Received is to upload the tracking number. But of course you have no tracking number because the buyer didn't pay, at least as far as you can tell. Since the buyer is not communicating, I would call eBay and find out if they can close this case in your favor while you are on the phone. The case that should not have been allowed to open. (And also remember that the buyer cannot leave feedback when the dispute closes. I mention this since this is a screwy situation. Hopefully she will not be allowed to leave feedback as expected.)

You should call Ebay tomorrow or contact them via social media.  Ebay will be able to verify if what they say is true.  Since you were able to open a UID and close it for non payment, it is more likely that a payment was never sent.

Its most likely a scam. I've had buyers who never paid somehow manage to open item not received cases. Definitely should call ebay and get it straightened out. If they paid as they stated, it would state so on your sold page. If not, then they didn't pay, and if there's a glitch somewhere, that's ebay's fault and their problem, not yours.

If they had actually paid, you wouldn't have been able to open an unpaid item case. Buyers also typically know that unpaids counts against them, a likely reason why your deadbeat buyer is fighting back.
