The item I sold is a Bose speaker system which is brand new in sealed condition. Also I listed it as brand new on eBay. However, the system was actually bought about 2 years ago from best buy, I didn't open it coz I ordered a better one later. The tracking record shows that buyer received the item on Oct 1. On Nov 21, he contacted me and claimed the speaker has issue when turn volume to 50% or more.
My question is, if there's something wrong with the item, in how many days user can file a claim? I searched ebay return policy, the answer is not clear.
Any inputs are welcome. Thanks in advance.

@organicdeals On eBay a buyer only has 30 days to open a return claim, so they would be out of luck on here. However, a buyer can open a case using their method of payment. With PayPal they have 6 months and with their credit card they have even longer, so you aren't out of the woods. It is really up to you on how you wish to deal with this. No matter what you do, I suggest you remain in good spirits with the buyer as any anger towards them will only lead to a chargeback, where you will lose your money and the speaker. Best of luck to you....

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I totally agree with you and I will deal with the buyer carefully and honestly. Thanks again and happy holiday!

The buyer contacted you and didn't open a return case? then ask them to return for a full refund, you can take the speakers back to the Geek Squad at BestBuy and they will try to fix it, and you can sell them again. but I think they will ask for partial instead. Goodluck.

@ten_o_nine That's what I guess either, the buyer may just want get partial back. However, the system is heavy so I'd like to negotiate first. Your suggestion would be perfect If negotiation doesn't work or the buyer is too greedy. Thank you.

I wouldn't recommend this unless the seller actually intended to honor the return request. In this particular case, the seller is not obligated to take a return as it is 60 days or more from delivery. The OP has no idea what the buyer has done with the item in the last couple of month.
I also would not issue a partial refund. It likely isn't necessary.
