Not even sure how to present this one....
A buy it now order was made by let's call him "Original_Buyer". I messaged thank you and stated that I would ship if not today (3/12) then tomorrow (3/13) latest. As soon as I printed the shipping label shortly after, I received the message that "Original_Buyer" opened an "item not received" claim against me.
I advised "Original_Buyer" that this was a false claim, to which I was told that "the nephew" made orders under a "guest" account and they wanted me to refund their money. They also stated that it was eBay customer service who advised them to open an "item not received" case against me. I told them to cancel the false claim and to send me an order cancelation request that I would approve. I even send them step by step instructions on how to do it.
Somewhere at that point, messages started coming from a different user, let's call them, "Random-Party"; must be the same person who wrote last using the "Original_Buyer" account, who was asking me to refund the funds because they could not make a request to cancel order... At this point I don't know who is who and wrote to them again to get into the account the buyer used, follow the process, and cancel the order!
Now I am waiting... I did not ship, and did cancel the label...
Did something like this happen to anyone before? I am new to selling, and have reported this to eBay, since as of now, all I know is that an eBay approved buyer made a purchase, opened a claim, and then someone else took over and is requesting a refund. It does have all the elements of scam, but I am giving them a chance.... I informed eBay, not sure if I did it right, so I do not what to expect from eBay, but would also like to hear and learn from other sellers.
Thank You!

Well........ sellers cancel orders. Since you haven't cancelled it, eBay is expecting you to fulfill it. I'd offer that you pull down the drop down menu to the left of the sale and 'Cancel order', citing 'Buyer requested'. After that, I'd suggest that you put "Original_Buyer" and "Random-Party" (both) on your BBL. Good luck and good golly...

As far as I know a buyer cannot open an item not received immediately...unless it is a credit card dispute with the buyer's bank.
Not sure of your time frame for shipping but I would hold off for shipping until that date arrives or do anything including emails to buyer(any).
Anything from eBay by an email can come along the way in the meantime.
We do get emails from eBay telling us not to mail an item out...problem with the buyer...and no refund needed.

Thank you! I would love to cancel the order myself to help them, and me:-) but I do not see that option under "View order details"... Do I need to look elsewhere?

Let me qualify my reply... I sold for many years, but quit last Spring. As I remember it.......
Seller Hub/Orders/Awaiting shipment -or- Paid and shipped (I don't know where it'd be with the label cancellation... you might have to check under each)
If there's no drop down shown, see if there's a box beside the order to tick for 'More Actions'. Look for 'Cancel order'.
And if I'm behind the times, hang around for replies and go with advice from a current seller. 😔 😊

You probably don't see that because when you printed the label the transaction was marked as shipped and that is what eBay will see and maybe why they advised the buyer to open an INR.
Do you see Send Refund in the dropdown? If so, use that. You might want to check the dropdown in the Orders page rather than the Order Details, might be different options but I'm not sure.
One other thing, in the dropdown there should be a "mark not shipped" choice, click on that and perhaps then the Cancel option will reappear.
Into your life it will creep

Do nothing until 3/16...
If eBay sends an email not to ship...you do not have to refund...you get to keep item and the funds from the sale...I have been 'around this block so many times'.

Thank you! That might be the reason, I did buy the label and then cancelled it. I am very hesitant sending them a "refund", as I have not received a pay out and am not sure what the consequences might be if eBay also decides to send them their CC payment back. I am not counting on anyone to then "refund" me:-)

Thank you;-) I hear you, but to be honest, I don't want their money.... I just hope eBay will help cancel this transaction so I can move on. I started selling two months ago as a hobby to not get bored:-) This kind of buyer interaction will definitely make sure it doesn't get boring...
