As title says a buyer claims I sent wrong item in this case a trading card, then opens a case requesting me to give a shipping label to him without sending me a message first. I messaged him on why he wants to return the card for a refund and he said that I sent him a wrong card not what he ordered. He also uploaded a picture of said card that is 300x300 pixels of a card I have on my listing that is still ongoing but no in a top loader or sleeve and I thought to myself if its not the card he ordered why did he take it out of the top loader and sleeve? I checked his feedback and there seems to be 3 instance of something similair like this happening, I know for a fact that I sent him the correct card because I am looking at the said card he said I sent him and I only have one of those cards. Before I reply back to him i'm just wondering should I just give up? Since it seems ebay will likely side with the buyer and he already opened up a item not described case i'm not really sure if I can do anything about it. It'll be nice if I can get some help.

That kind of site would work back when sellers could leave honest feedback for buyers - because someone could check them out to see if they were put on the list because they were really scamming or if they were put there by your competition to get you to block an honest buyer from your merchandise.

@shinylitten262wrote:Thanks everyone who took the time to give some input, for now I'll issue return label and wait for the card to get back to get to me and see what I can do afterwards. Oh and for the person asking how much was the card it was about 39.99.
And hope you receive the same item you sent. But since you're convinced the buyer posted a picture of something else, you'll probably get that something else.

Okay, I just received the card back but not to anyone's surprise it was empty just two card two loader in a regular envelope. I don't know if it will help or but I recordered myself opening the return package, not sure what I do from here on. Do I give ebay a call or report buyer?

follow rose's instructions in post 14 above.

I forgot to also include that the buyer is from puerto rico, I know it's part of the us territory but was just going to make sure if I should do the same as rose said.

Regular envelope as in no tracking? Or a padded envelope with tracking?

Yes those regular letter mail 3x9 envelopes with the tracking label on it, I thought that the post office didn't allow people to do that.

Then yes - do as rose said in the post. Report to everyone, including ebay.

A little update, I have done everything as suggested by rose and just got an email from ebay saying they'll stick to their original outcome of siding with the buyer. I expected as much that would happen from the beginning, but thanks to everyone who took the time to help me I appreciate it. I guess a good thing about this is experience to handle these types of buyers that ebay will likely never do anything about.

I am sure that if you look for the same card within 25 miles of the buyers zip code, you will find it being sold by a different id. But ebay will not care, a buyer is happy, they will keep buy-uh-scamming and that keeps sales up and generates fees for ebay.
This is why I will not list anything on ebay worth over $50 unless my loss is very, very low and there is not another site I could list it on.
But if you get the buyer on the PO radar and the PO gets enough complaints about them, they can and will do something about it. They can block service and have the Feds move on them and toss them in the jail they belong in.

I have been selling on ebay since 2001, but I don't sell a lot. It's not my source of income, but I usually sell 60 or 70 items a year or so between two accounts, and it's a little extra cash here and there. My total feedback between the two is about 450, and I am certainly not a power seller like a lot of you on here. I have never had a negative feedback, and never had a return. Most of the stuff I sell is used electronic equipment, and I have always had a no return policy. I ALWAYS make sure the stuff I sell is working, if it's not, I don't sell it.
Recently I got a deal on some brand new cases still wrapped in the factory plastic. I got about 40 of these, all the same model, all brand new in sealed plastic with factory barcode and description. A couple weeks ago I get a buy it now to a person with 0 feedback, who opened the account the same day. I thought it was strange, but whatever. As soon as this person receives it, they open a not as described claim. I reply asking for pictures and asking what's not as desribed? No reply.
I contact ebay the next day and tell them to look at the account, it was opened the same day. I have sold a dozen of these and every buyer has given positive feedback, and some even state exactly as described. The ebay rep says it does look suspicious to him also, so the best thing I can do is let the case expire and it should close in my favor. He makes notes on the case and tells me to call back the following week. I send two more requests for pictures over the next few days and no reply. I call ebay back on the day he told me to and they look at the notes and agree, it looks like a scam. Again, I'm told to wait a little longer.
I see a message from ebay a few days later saying the case was closed in the buyers favor. I call ebay again, they look at the notes, and say that the buyer posted pictures. Apparently I didn't see that message so with the ebay rep on the phone I look. This fuc#$%ing piece of sh** takes a picture of some cheap a$$, no brand, used case and claims that is what he received and ebay believes him? I went thru the roof. So the rep explains how now the buyer has to return the item to me, and that I will be billed for the return shipping, and the buyer will get a full refund once the tracking number shows delivered. Then I have the option to dispute my case again by taking pictures of the worthless **bleep** he is returning.
I tell the ebay rep that the entire process is total bull$h!t and ask how the hell they can take the word of an idiot who has only purchased one frikin item on the day he joined ebay AND it wasn't what he ordered! I have been on ebay for 17 years without a single return or negative feedback, the dozen other cases I sold have all been given positive feedback, but they are gonna give the buyer the benefit of the fu$%ing doubt????? And then, because of ripoff bay's stupidity, you can't leave a negative feedback to a buyer. This leaves no way to warn other sellers about the scum sucking **bleep** buying or bidding on your item. I was **bleep** when they started charging a final value fee on shipping, but nothing like now. I will never sell a very high dollar item on ebay, that's for sure. You're at the mercy of the scamming a$$ people getting rich off of other people's hard work and ebay doesn't give a flying f@#k.
I know, I know...they will be 50 people who reply and say to just take it easy and this kind of thing happens and blah blah blah, and move on. Like I have seen a lot of people state, ebay doesn't give 3 sh#t$ because they are making money hand over fist.
From now on, anyone buys an item from me with less than 5 feedback, I'm cancelling the sale. Once the stuff I have is gone, I'll find another means of selling whatever new stuff I get. Whenever I get the opportunity to make a sale without going thru ebay, I'll do it. I've always followed their policies, like an idiot. Ok, my rant is over. Hopefully it entertained some of you, and maybe made some others a little more careful.
