As the title states.
Sold a phone in excellent working order. Only 12 months old as i upgrade annually.
48 days later i get a request to return statijg the screen doesnt work. I obviously had to accept return due to the 90 days paypal offer.
Still waiting for the item to be returned. How long do they have?

With Pay Pal, they have 180 days to open a case.
Not sure how long they give them to return the item.

If a return case was filed and you accepted the return, you can go to the case details and it should say when the buyers deadline is to get the item back to you. I think it's like 2 weeks. There should also be tracking so you can check the progress.
If the phone is not returned in time, ebay will close the case out in your favor.

Here's a twist, if the buyer sends the product back, even if you receive it but claim you did not receive it how does that work? It's like a scam to a scam. I would never do this but who wins out?

It's automated. eBay works off the 'Delivered' scan.

When the buyer requested a return, seller sends a shipping label with tracking number. So tracking will show as "delivered" to the seller when the seller receives it back.

Confused by your post. Did the buyer open a return request through eBay, which usually has a 30 day maximum from the date of delivery, or did they open a chargeback through PayPal? If it was through eBay did you accept the return and issue the return label? If it was a chargeback you should have gotten notification from eBay to respond to the chargeback.
You are in the UK so I cannot see your listing but did you offer returns when you posted the listing? If not that may cause some issues as well.

The buyer gets 14 days plus a 5 day extension.
If there is NO scan in 19+ days, the case will time out and close in your favor.
In there is ANY scan, the case will time out and close in the buyer's favor in 54 days.

So it's one sided? If the buyer claims they did not receive it, even if they did, and it shows delivered the buyer is held out on the plank?

If tracking shows it was delivered, the seller is covered.
If buyer claims they didn't get it, they need to work with the carrier to find out where it was delivered.

Little confused here but I will take a whack at it.
If buyer opens a return case, seller accepts the return, that makes it a standard return case even though it is past 30 days from original delivery date. Buyer enters tracking into return case. Tracking shows delivered to seller, seller then must process a refund.

Is this for the phone you sold on December 7?
What was the date of the return request? If it was beyond 30 days, you wouldn't have been obligated to accept the return.
But when you did accept it, there was a date by which the buyer had to ship. If it wasn't shipped by that date (with tracking showing shipment), you could request that the case be closed.

Yes, they're saying it wasn't a genuine apple screen.
I know I didn't have to accept the return but then they can go via PayPal.
I'll have a look at the shipping label many thanks.

Yes I used the request to return through ebay. I accepted it and then sent a label to the buyer.

Checked the status of the tracking and it stated they're unable to give me any information. Please Tey back tomorrow.
