Buyer not paying

Hello all,

im fairly new to selling only a few months now and this is the first I’ve run into this. Tonight is night 5 of no Payment or contact from buyer. I’ve sent a message and a payment reminder, as well as a claim for non payment last night. This is a higher item that I would like to get back on the market by Sunday. Can I cancel this order without repercussion on my part? I’ve heard of stories of people doing this and the person leaves a bad review complaining but like I said if they’re wasting my time I want to get this thing back on my listings. Thank you in advance.

Buyer not paying

Open an Unpaid Item (UPI) case with eBay. If the buyer still has not paid by the 4th day you can close the UPI and eBay will refund you the  final value fee (FVF).

I think if you cancel the order without the buyer asking you to do so then eBay will not refund you the FVF even though your buyer never paid.

Once an unpaid item claim has opened it’s not possible to use the cancellation option.  You will have to wait until you can close the unpaid item claim which should be 96hrs after it was opened.

If the buyer has not paid yet would this matter? I know a little about the FVF but I don’t think I would lose anything from this? The 4th day would be Monday and due to this item being one of my better sales I’d like to post it on Sunday.

Okay that makes sense, I may have to wait til Monday then. Let’s say I decided not to open an UPI and if it’s been 5 or so days and I decide to cancel the order will there be anything bad on my part for this? Thank you.
