I recently sold an item for around $80 and the buyer never paid for the item. It's been 7 days and 1 hr. now. Sent multiple invoices and messages, and received no response. I reported the buyer and I want to cancel so I can relist it ASAP, but there is no option for "buyer didn't pay" under the pulldown menu of cancellation reasons. I'm suspecting the buyer might be abusing the system? Don't know what to do at this point. Just wait for eBay to investigate my report?

It's not the buyer... it's you. Every time you send an invoice, the buyer's payment window resets to 96 hours.
ETA: Stop sending invoices. Wait for the last to become 'unpaid' at (at least) 96 hours and one second... then cancel. 'Buyer didn't pay' will become available. Good luck.

Thanks! I've sold hundreds of items but didn't know that for some reason.

I had a recent buyer who didn't pay. I sent them 3 invoices and was able to cancel after the 4th day.

Every time you contact them that resets the "4 days to pay" clock back to 4 days.

There are cancel reasons you can pick before 4 days. But the one that says buyer didn't pay and puts a strike on their account for non-payment, doesn't show up after 4 days of non-contact from you. Or maybe you sent messages as opposed to invoices. I know repeated invoices reset the 4 day pay clock. I am not sure if regular emails to them (ie not invoices) does the same thing. I am guessing they don't.

I would not recommend sending multiple invoices in a short period of time. It can have the opposite effect, including the possibility of angering the buyer who then abandons the sale.
Sending three invoices in 4 days is overkill when you take into consideration that eBay is also sending reminders. It can be highly annoying to shoppers, especially when eBay allows every buyer 4 days to remit (the exception to this is those sellers who choose fixed price with Immediate Payment Required and do not have Best Offer as a choice on their listing).

Yes - I was able to see "buyer did not pay". It shows up after you click on "report buyer", then go to "open an unpaid item case".

That's not correct. Every buyer who has not paid after 4 days and I have sent at least 2 invoices, I was able to report the buyer for an unpaid item and the cases were closed immediately.

Why have I noticed an increase in 0 review buyers that never pay? I don't understand
