Buyer lied about item being damaged in order to file claim

A buyer purchased an item from me through auction. Then complained about the item when I clearly put the description and pictures. Then eBay gave her the refund of over ($110) and charged me $10 extra on top of that for the return shipping, and I never received the item back.

I would go to your post office and see where they delivered the package.

It could have been stolen after it was delivered.

Have a great day.

I think the number of low-level bad sellers and low-level bad buyers is higher than people want to think.  Low-level for a seller would be lazy packaging, gross overcharge of shipping, lying about various things like date of shipment, lying about condition ('NWOT' versus 'worn a few times'), backing out of sales for no reason, etc.   Those are all bad to various degrees and most sellers have done at least one - if not, I'd be half do something of that ilk regularly.

On the buyer end, low-level bad is backing out of purchases, being a PITA, lying about reasons for return, etc.

Yes. They precharged me. It’s called a “pre-approved transaction” except I didn’t approve it. Then it ended up being more so they charged me again.

You charged $7.60 to ship the wig priority mail.  How could it be that ebay charged you $10.00 and then charged you more?  I'd have a big headache if it was heavy enough to warrant that much shipping cost.

Are you sure you didn't just choose "refund buyer" sometime during the time the case was active?  I believe ebay informed you of the tracking number in the case details~~they always do.  It should be right at the top where is says "return started~~item shipped~~item delivered".  Check there to see if tracking shows it was delivered back to you.

Are you saying that the buyer filed an item not described claim? If so, this isn't reflective of the ebay protocol for buyer claim> returns> seller refunds.

The "pre-approved transaction" is what paypal would consider normal paypal shipping charge to your account.

This is an aberration or something is missing.

OP~~It looks like this was your 1st sale.  When you refer to being charged twice for shipping do you mean that ebay made you pay the original shipping that the buyer paid you PLUS charged you for the return shipping?  If that is what you are referring to that is normal on a not as described case~~you have to give the buyer a FULL refund including shipping charge that they paid you PLUS you have to pay return shipping.

Are you sure the buyer was refunded?  Ebay may have put a hold on the money in your pay pal account~~not refunded the buyer yet.  Go to the case details and find that tracking number I told you about in my last post.  What does it say in the return progress~~is it on it's way back to you or has it not been shipped yet or does it show as delivered back to you?

You don't actually get charged for that shipping label until the buyer actually uses it.  Check the return shipping status in the case details and I or someone else will let you know what to do depending on what that says.

The original label if purchased through eBay is the pre-approved transaction. The return shipping label is never pre-approved and you are not billed for the label unless it’s used. It’s a return service label so there is no charge unless it’s used. eBay doesn’t pre-bill you for it.

OP said she didn't approve it (the return?).  Maybe this is a unresolved case and the buyer got a refund and wasn't required to return?
