So I sell on eBay as a way to make side money, but I pride myself in making sure I post accurately, communicate with buyers, and ship items quickly (and even offer multiple shipping options).
I recently sold a Raid Controller that was brand new (accepted the buyers offer). Everything went smoothly (or so I thought), and then weeks later I get negative feedback. I message the buyer and asked what was wrong. They said they sent the item directly to a “client”, who said the item was scratched, wasn’t new, and a CD was inside. It’s completely bogus! So, I got curious and went to that buyers page, and they have the item listed for sale!!! Not only that, but when I checked the feedback they had left for others- most ALL feedback they leave is negative!!
Is there anything I can do?
I don’t make more than 1-5 sales a month, so this really hurt my feedback rating.

I did. I always inspect items before I ship

Exactly! I opened the box to inspect, and used household Scotch tape to recluse.

OK. For future, since you're inspecting the item anyway, you would probably be wise to photograph it and include those pics in the listing.

Oh, I agree; I'm just saying, overall, this does not look like a new item. In Fact, per this category, should've been listed as 'Open Box'.

Based on a small surface scratch on a box? Seriously?

I'm not saying your customer wasn't difficult, but your customers customer was and the item was listed as 'New' which means 'Brand New, Never Opened' when in fact it was either Open Box or Used.

Yes. I’m almost even thinking I should have videotaped myself taking it out of the box, inspecting, and putting it back inside the box at this point. It’s so disappointing sellers have to go that far to prove an items is exactly as it’s listed. But even still, I’m sure their are buyers out there that could say “how do I know that’s the same item OR that video was taken right before shipping” .

Video taping does nothing-nobody will even look at it.

How do you think you could prove that the video was of the item in question? You cannot.

That’s what I said in the post. Lol

You don't have to do that - I see what happened. I sell open box stuff all the time and find it's best to always display the contents of the box as well as the box itself, not just the box. Whatever small damage that box has doesn't really warrant inside damage and is of no consequence, but as that listing stood, it was no longer new in sealed box. If you open a sealed box for inspection, it's best to display the contents since it's open, anyway, then seal it up again, and list as "new open box". Or just leave it along, don't open, and sell it.
I'm sorry you got that buyer, though, over a matter of simple confusion.

You said the buyer wouldn't trust the video. The important point has nothing to do with buyer trust. It is that eBay won’t trust the video..
