Buyer leaves negative feedback because item is being delayed by USPS

My region is in Detroit and they have had a lot of slow downs with packages due to being short staffed,  I have already dealt with and resolved two other item not received cases this week positively. Well apparently there was another delay with another package , where an item has been sitting in Detroit for 9 days, buyer never contacted me, just left me negative feedback and opened up an item not received case and wants a refund. In these cases i usually call the usps and have them put a ticket on the package to get it moving as quick as possible to the buyer/ But I'm getting tired of not having any extra protection against these delays/ there should be more time added to the expected delivery ebay puts on the items, and more time added to when a buyer can open up a case.  Right now the delays are systemic. Some buyers are understanding, but some are very pushy and annoying and hard to deal with.  I appealed the negative feedback, hopefully it will get removed, I believe it's unfair for a buyer to leave negative feedback for a delay in delivery that's out of my control, especially during a pandemic where it has clearly affected mail delivery times. I mean I took the item to the post office within one business day and I always get them scanned in, so it was scanned in within one business day. the 9 day delay is not my doing.

Agreed that eBay needs to cut sellers some slack. Hopefully with this case, it'll scan 'delivered' and the feedback can be removed since you've done your part. Reminder to load the tracking number in the case. Good luck!

I had to . out my prev post because I recalled something that made it irrelevant and didn't have enough time to edit it.

In ebay's most recent announcement to extend seller protection through August, I recall that negative feedback resulting from certain Covid-related issues is eligible for removal. I am not totally clear on the exact details as "Seller Protections" seems to maybe apply to some things sometimes and maybe not others other times, so if you can find that announcement, I suggest giving it a read.

I found this fast so I could include with an edit. Hopefully it's the right one.

The delays are NOT systemic. I have shipped five packages in the past week and a half (all to different states) and not a single one of them has been delayed more than a day or two, nor have I experienced any delays in the packages I have received.

If the USPS in certain areas is failing to do their jobs, people need to hold their feet to the fire. Hold them accountable for their actions or lack thereof. They will not shape up if people do not let them know that this is not acceptable. And no, COVID is not an excuse when I have received three packages through NYC that all cleared ISC customs in a single day and were delivered to me the very next day even at the height of the problems in NY.

The delays right now actually are systemic. Google it.

I'm glad to hear your five packages weren't delayed, but that's not evidence that no systemic issues exist.

If in one day, 1 in 5 USPS shipments failed to reach their destination, that would not be a delay. At 100 million pieces of mail, that would be a total meltdown.
