Hey fellow eBay members!
So I’m having a problem with a transaction that I sold on eBay.
I have a customer that put his address as a Fed ex office so it would be held for pick up.
He paid for overnight on Tuesday, I shipped it priority overnight Tuesday but he still has not picked it up or returned my text or phone calls
My concern is the five business days will pass, fed ex will return the package to me and Bill my eBay account $29 for the overnight shipping plus any transit costs to get back to me
That and I will have to refund the buyer in full so ultimately lose $30-$40 in shipping costs on top of refunding the buyer
I was wondering if he doesn’t pick up the package what are my options so that I don’t lose $30-$40 in shipping cost if I have to refund him. Can eBay credit those overnight shipping cost back to my seller account because I paid with the label on eBay or well eBay side with me in an unreceived item claim, if that’s the case I’ll personally send him via paypal what he paid less $40 to make him whole
Has anybody had experience with eBay crediting FedEx labels to their account - is that something they can do in a situation like this ?
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks guys!

Well sure eBay can credit it but chances are they won’t. They won’t absorb the loss for you. Which is why you need to call if and when the INR is filed and recite the MBG where it says refusals aren’t covered.

eBay won’t credit the shipping costs to you but failing to pick up tthe package should count as a refusal so if he files an INR, upload the tracking and then call eBay and ask them to close the case in your favor. When the item comes back, you can deduct all shipping costs from the buyers refund.

I did call eBay and that’s exactly what they told me. But they couldn’t tell me if it would be a 100% chance of me winning the item not received case.
I looked into this buyer some more and he’s left three positive feedback, seven negative feedback, member since 2012 with 300 feedback’s - I just blocked him from purchasing in the future.
But if I lose the item not received case why can’t eBay credit the $30 I paid for overnight? They can clearly see that he refused to pick it up - the address of the Fedex ( on FedEx tracking) matches the shipping address that he provided to me

They "can" give you a Courtesy Credit, but unless you hit a Customer Service rep with a heart of gold, eBay typically considers this to be one of those "costs of doing business".
