Buyer failed to change his shipping address, item sent to old address through eBay shipping tool. Now the buyer contacted eBay saying he didn't receive item, subsequently eBay placed a hold on my seller account which put me in the red. The buyer messaged me claiming I made a mistake and sent it to his old address, he says he changed the address when he paid. If he did change his address when I used the eBay shipping tool to create the label (after payment was made) the new address should be the shipping address. I am concerned now because I have a $289 negative balance on my seller payments account. What do I do to get this resolved? I don't want to eat the $289!! Any ideas?

all you need to do to win this is to show delivery with the tracking number
you should enter the tracking number into the case
its the buyer who has to choose the address or enter it even if they do it wrong
buyers can have up to five addresses on file with ebay and is up to them to use the correct one. not an old one
you are not obligated to respond to his messages. you only need to respond to the case
this should easily be found in your favor

If the buyer filed an INR, upload the tracking number to the case and you should be OK.

Well, at least until he files the chargeback.
If it's not yet delivered it may be worth the $15 or so to have the USPS intercept and return the package to you.

I had buyer like that. He left me negative feedback in the end that I didn’t ship to the right address. The item was returned to me (Maybe he refused it ). I contacted buyer and told him I relisted item he can change address and buy it. He never did. I called ebay and they made me cancel transaction which I did without thinking that I lost shipping label money. Maybe if I refunded in the regular process I could have kept shipping if the buyer wouldn’t have gone for money back. Not sure.
