Buyer does not pay! Gets a strike. Now opens item not received claim!

I sold a item $149.00 + shipping. I gave buyer 5 days to pay. No payment. Filed unpaid buyer to get credit for selling fees. 5 days later I was able to close case and get credit. Buyer has not filed item never received case, Ebay suggests I give a full refund $186.00.  This favoring buyers is getting out of hand!!!!!!!!!!!

Essentially epay is not a reliable selling platform for smaller sellers anymore. Your situation makes no sense if the item was not paid for and after you closed a case ebay then suggest a refund. It is as if ebay has lost control of itself.

"Ebay suggests I give a full refund $186.00."

This doesn't make one bit of sense.  You never received one penny or even a "Yankee Dime" for this transaction.  Y'all ain't  got no $$$.$$ to refund but you did get your FVFs back.  The buyer  never  paid a selling fee one.

At least the person who "suggested" a refund didn't say  you  had to refund.  I suggest you hang on to your money.  Call eBay to  straighten out this mess.

For added clarification -

A.  Yankee dime (plural Yankee dimes) Noun (US, idiomatic, slang, American South, sometimes humorous) A kiss or a kiss on the cheek in parts of Central Texas, like Waco.  Always bet a Yankee dime because when you lose you will still win. (I added that part)

B.  sug·gest
/sə(ɡ)ˈjest/
verb
verb: suggest; 3rd person present: suggests; past tense: suggested; past participle: suggested; gerund or present participle: suggesting
  1. put forward for consideration

@palmbeachtreasuresbykaren   When you say "eBay suggests I give a full refund $186.00 ..." was that in eBay Messaging?  If so just ignore it, the item was never paid for so there is NOTHING to refund.

i called ebay before posting. Rep said buyer should not be able to do that! Ah, no kidding. Told it is a glitch! My point is ebay is so skewed in buyers favor they do not even know what changes they have made.

This happened to me last week and their item not received case was closed since they never paid for the item.  It surprised me, as well, that opening a case was even an option for a buyer who never paid.  Just never panic and click the help button on top and have ebay call you.  You get the best customer support representatives that way.

@palmbeachtreasuresbykaren  I think we're all confused because your original post says "Buyer has not filed item never received case".  Sounds like you meant buyer has filed, right?

Yeah--I had to read that one a couple of times, too. I think the OP meant, "Buyer has NOW filed item never received case."

Everyone makes typos or misspells words now and again; however, it really helps to take a second look at comments for clarity before posting them, so everyone trying to respond is on the same page with their answers.

@palmbeachtreasuresbykaren Never mind!  I see now that your subject line says "now opens" but I got confused when reading the post that says "has not filed" (just a typo) and I thought eBay was initiating something that didn't even come from the buyer.  I'm easily confused this morning - maybe I should just go back to bed!

Do you seriously think this is happening because Ebay favors buyers? Does it make any sense to you that this could be intentional?

It's pretty obvious this is a coding error. Ebay does plenty wrong they should be called out for, let's not go overboard.

if you are not paid then you no need to return anything, the problem is , in standard cs , some of representatives have no sense of evaluation, and some are not familiar with ebay policies properly, when you tell them the situation they go to help and contact and read the lines, so do not trust what he told you may be that representative is not good enough to explained you well, call again cs and talk to different representative.

Cost of doing business

Realize selling & sometimes buying on ebay with expectations of accuracy and problem free transactions simply yields stress & disappointment

Not that much fun anymore, expect more difficulty & hard work ahead.
