Buyer called me when they got item

I sold an item for 700.00 and my ad says and shows the item both front and back.man gets it and calls me on my cell phone and called me a crook.He said if you buy a car do u make sure it has a motor. And I said what does this have to do with my item it's not a car. He said you need to send the rest of it I said I don't have the rest of it I was only telling the face. He continued to harass me on the phone so I hung up on him this was 7 days ago I have not heard a peep from the guy I don't know what he's up to but he has not filed a return yet through eBay but he said he was going to get it money back one way or the other. I do eBay for a living without it I do not eat I do not get gas I do not pay my bills. I can't touch this money in my account for a month from what they told me on the phone. My luck he'll be able to keep the item and take his money back that's happened many times to me on here. I am out of options on what to do should I use the money and buy some gas and groceries that I need badly or should I wait another 30 days as ebay said I have to do.I don't feel it's right for a buyer to assume there's more to the item listed. Should I be at fault because he assumed it came with more parts

It is not clear from the information that you supplied as to WHAT you sold, and how it was described by you in your listing.

Please provide more detail, if you expect any of us to help you.

@jumbo2765,

You mean the Greer display crane indicator, right? You sold one of these on May 13 for $700:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/265660867669

I don't know anything about these, but I can see that yours was sold for less than 1/3 of what some others have sold for recently. From what the buyer said, it appears that he feels that the item was missing some essential component that it needs in order to be functional.

I see that you listed them as new. This means that it needs to be complete and fully functional, as delivered.

New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging (where packaging is applicable). Packaging should be the same as what is found in a retail store, unless the item was packaged by the manufacturer in non-retail packaging, such as an unprinted box or plastic bag. See the seller's listing for full details. See all condition definitions

Unfortunately, you're not in a good position here. If a buyer files a case, saying that the item is not as described, then the seller needs to accept the return and will have to pay for return shipping. Since the item was sold as New, it needs to include everything that is needed to make it function; bu the buyer indicated that something was missing. I'm afraid, that ignorance is not a valid defense for a seller in this situation.

Since the buyer has not opened a case yet, you may wish to wait and see what he does next. This may not be the best approach in the long run, though. You might do better if if you send the buyer a message, telling them that if they are not happy with the item to please open a return case and you will accept the return and give a full refund. Then wait and see what happens.

If the buyer opens a return case (your best scenario) then accept it and eBay will give them a return shipping label. When you get the item back, send a refund ASAP.

Unfortunately, eBay sellers need to be able to describe items accurately, and eBay takes the buyer's word for it if they say the item was not as described. It sounds like your buyer may know more about this than you do, but you can only blame your friend for not telling you more about the items he asked you to sell for him.
