Hello everyone,
Based in the UK.
I'm sure you've seen the amount of buyer scam posts on this forum that it's very sad and sickening.
Yes, so I 'sold' 2 high value phones on eBay.
A Samsung Galaxy S24 and Google Pixel 7a.
The Samsung buyer claimed the package arrived already opened with the handset removed.
Whereas, I clearly showed the photographic proof of delivery picture showing the package intact (from Evri).
The buyer opened a case with eBay who decided in their favour (obviously as per other posts).
And the reason stated was "the buyer provided evidence from law enforcement that they received an empty box".
What on earth is that supposed to mean?
Evidence from law enforcement?
How on earth would the police provide evidence that the buyer received an empty box.
Whereas, I provided clear PHOTOHGRAPHIC proof from the courier website with tracking number that the parcel was delivered intact.
The same with the Pixel buyer who's opened a return case claiming that they haven't received their item.
They seem to be considering their options.
Yes, so scammers galore eBay.
I'm a private seller so I don't even sell much.
And I bet this post will even encourage more scammers as this is more evidence that eBay will be on their side all the way.
😔
I'm certainly not going to be selling on eBay again.
Lost nearly £1000.
Not worth you money or mental health people.

Unfortunate this happened to you, especially twice in one week. I am not sure where you items shipped to or how to address the "police evidence" claim from the buyer but it probably would not have made a lot of difference. You had a couple things working against you. You are a new seller and you listed probably one of the favorite targets for the scammer community. It's not unusual to see a post a week for a scam involving a cell phone.
While it is of little consequence if you have the IMEI numbers of the phones you can report them to the IMEI blacklist which will render the phones pretty much useless to the buyer.
